Infernus
The only known city of tieflings near the surface in the entire world, Infernus is certainly a oddity befitting The Great Cascade. Built within the interior of a massive active volcano (The Torch of Pholtus), this city has become a unique place that blends many very different cultures together. There have always been diabolical rumors surrounding this city since it's inception, though the truth is that it is as peaceful and civilized any city.
The city's population consists largely of tieflings, the only place in the world this race can truly call their own; however, it is important to note this is far from the only place they hail from. Tieflings are born in many cities around the world, simply not in large numbers. There is a healthy mix of other races here, from human to gnome, orc to bugbear, and everything in between. Beyond that, there is a population of demons and devils here, though many have either cast off their innate nature for a more material existence. Most enjoy the presence of mortals over trying to manipulate or enslave them. Others have been cast off from their homelands, generally for behaviors bordering on benevolence or greater.
The expansive caverns and tunnels that make up this enormous underground city are the home to a great bazaar, the likes of which could turn those of Ha-khet and Kisa'arn green with envy. Various objects from all over the world, even other planes of existence, have a habit of ending up here in a stall. While coin is always acceptable, the residents of this city generally find it very boring, preferring interesting trades or favors.
The ruling faction consists of a female tiefling known as the "vypal nfyyl" and a demon that serves as council and consort to the ruler, and sovereignty has been passed down to the daughters of these unions for generations. The few laws set here are absolute, though it must be stated there are very few. Indiscriminate fighting is permitted so long as there is no loss of life. Theft is permitted, so long as it is not something of great sentimental value. No bewitching of mortals, though plainly spelled out written contracts are permitted. Breaking any of these simple laws results in extremely harsh penalties.
