Yoozii

city state of the Tyumum Federation

Yoozii is located in the north west of the Tyumum Federation along the western coast of the continent of Fuma. It is situated along the mouth of a river, and it has the largest population of any city state in the Federation.
The people who live in Yoozii often came there looking for an advanced education, as the schools in Yoozii are famous throughout the world. Ranging from medicine to magic, there are different academies, tradeschools, and guilds that can help train people into developing new skills or building new careers.
Yoozii was one of the last states to be incorporated into the Federation, as its position as a place of higher learning was considered more important than participating in the Federation government. For the most part, there is very little regulation or impositions from the government that change the fundamental aspects of Yoozii life.
The city also has access to several stone quarries, including limestone, granit, and chalk.

Demographics

Because of its relative remoteness from other major cities on the continent, the population consists mostly of other members of the Federation or people who originally came from Iwati, but some Kugma, Paban, or Raron people attend the city's schools.

Industry & Trade

The major inhabitants of Yoozii are students, called te tso (singular tso teachers, called te fkeyyooozh (singular fkeyyooozh and tradesmen, called te rodsiioozh (singular rodsiioozh). There are very few families and children are few and far between, as students are generally adults by the time they arrive at Yoozii.

Districts

Yoozii is divided into several districts and each is associated with a different school.
The Gate
The gate to the sea is the westernmost district in the city. The crown jewel of the area is the Fishing School, a trade school that teaches magic beneficial for fishing life, including how to build better boats and better nets. It sits right against the beach and its famous gates are lined with sculptures of fish and ocean waves.
The Lumberyard
There are many trees that grow in and around Yoozii, and accessing them and turning them into useful products like timber and planks is a full-time profession. Houses in the Lumberyard are owned by people who work with wood, whether it's extracting the resource directly from the trees or working with the finished product to create furniture or decorations.
The New District
Architecture students design buildings and create them in this area of the city reserved for them. After about a year, the buildings are torn down. Usually students build homes and places of business, but some build churches, temples, restaurants, or even parks. The designs are always fresh and unique, if short-lasting.

Guilds and Factions

The tradesmen are often educated in the city and work in guilds. Schools for fishmongering, magic, architecture, and carpentry are the biggest guilds and have the most to offer an incoming student, but there are lesser colleges for other trades.

Architecture

Yoozii is known for beautiful buildings primarily made of stone and wood. There are quarries nearby that provide limestone and granite, making it easy to transport the materials to the city for architecture students.   Because there is a limited amount of space in the city for the architecture school, it is a yearly tradition to build up new buildings or other structures by students and then tear down the buildings to leave space for others after about a year. This area of the city is constantly in flux. Some students live in the structures and others conduct business there, such as local fishmongers or carpenters, but in general the New District is a tourist draw and an opportunity to see the latest in architectural design.
