Dunritter
The Dunritter are an elite group of Bloodhunters, Blood wizards, and clerics. Founded originally as a means to combat the ever growing threat of the Valas Empire, they have quickly proven themselves to be among the best monster hunters this world has to offer. While based in Zentrum, and maintaining a strong influence there, they are an independant organization, with members and a sanctuaries across the continent of Munhart.
After the final Dead War, a radical faction found themselves discontent with the peace talks between Zentrum and the newly forged nation of Valatveria. Disillusioned with the organization's willingness to follow suit, many members left and formed the Scarlet Blades. This has left the Dunritter a much smaller group than before.

Structure
The Rankings of the Dunritter are as follows.
Rektor
The "leader" of the Dunritter.High Hexen
The High Hexen is the most advanced arcane practitioner within a chapter. Typically serving as second in command to the Blutmeister, the High Hexen of a given chapter is the one in charge of giving Bane's Hand to prospective members.Volblut
This is the rank given to those who have survived Bane's Hand. Typically Volbluts are divided into three distinct categories.Auges
The Auges are members of the organization that act more covertly. They are tasked with the operations attempting to weed out any monstrous creatures that are hidden from plain sight, whether it be because they've infiltrated bodies of government, are known to change form, etc. They are largely non-combatative, preferring subterfuge and acting alone.Jaegers
Jaegers are the most common members of the organization. They are the ones sent out to deal with monsters that traditional soldiers may be unable to deal with. Normally Bloodhunters, although it's not uncommon for a Blood Domain Cleric to be a Jaeger as well. Typically work in teams of 2.Hexen
Hexen are members that are more focused on the arcane, alchemical, and research oriented aspects of the Dunritter. They might be tasked with removing curses, studying more effective ways to combat monstrous beings, as well as the overseeing and tutoring of prospective members. Generally well revered, Hexen rarely leave Bluthalle or whatever sanctuary they are a part of, unless specific circumstances call for it.Halblut
The Intitiates of the Order. These are generally members that have committed to the order but have yet to take the Bane's Hand. Unless one does the ritual, they remain in the ranking of Halblut, regardless of any experience they might gain over time.History
During the Dead War, the Valas Empire had a major advantage over many of the other developing nations of the time. With their strong emphasis on necromancy and their large armies of undead, the “Immortal Legion” posed a major threat to many of their rivals, specifically the Kingdom of Zentrum, their immediate neighbors to the south. It was during this time that a desperate a man named Tithus began pleading with the Keepers of the Everflame, who were sworn to vows of neutrality at the time, to become more involved in the war efforts. With the exception of a female priestess, who later became known as the New Light, it largely fell on deaf ears. This disillusionment caused Tithus to renounce his sacred oaths and abandon the temple he lived in.
It was during this time he claimed to have received a vision of an ancient fortress located near the Northern coast. With newfound friends, and a few sellswords, he made a pilgrimage to the sight of this fortress. When he first entered the abandoned halls he immediately heard a voice, one that claimed to bestow upon him his visions and led him to a shrine a lone. Its origins are unknown, and what transpired in that room is known only to Tithus himself. But one thing is for certain, by the end , he became one of the first mortals to possess the forbidden magic of Hemocraft, also known as blood magic.
Inspired by his newfound power, the sellswords immediately joined ranks and learned the ways of bloodmagic, dubbing themselves the Dunritter, a name that was given to them in jest by the journalists of Zentrum, and their fortress was named Bluthalle.
Initially acting as an independent military force, it wasn’t long before their success found its way into the eyes of Sovereign Maude, the current leader of Zentrum. After seeing their effectiveness on the field of battle, Maude gave the order to legitimize the Dunritter making them an official, yet separate, force for the crown. It is through the cunning strategies of the Dunritters and their newfound magical abilities, along with the import of airships from House Goldrbine, that Zentrum was able to repulse the Valas Empire, eventually causing a revolution within the Empire, ending the war.
After the war, there still remained a threat of a returning undead, as well as a strong proliferation of monsters. Because of this the Dunritter became even more essential than they had been before. Currently, much of their practices are unknown to the general public. However, rumors of the “black jackets” and their dark arts have begun to circulate.
