Session XII: Onto the Conflux Mountain Report
General Summary
Travel to the "Pink Mountain"
A shrine of Peryite
In the morning the adventurers decide to set off on their travel to the Conflux Mountain (dubbed the "Pink Mountain" by a few of the Resourceful Ones). They decide to first check on the mountain and afterwards travel to the hold (Gnel's Hold), taking a route through the north-eastern forest found in the Purple Plains. After 1,5 day of travelling, they stumble across a corrupted part of the forest, with fungi growing on all kinds of vegetation. Similarly the ground turns quite soppy here, with a campfire being lit in the distance. Upon approaching the light, they discover a few Scamps and Cacklers sitting around the fire, sharing some foods. Although Balin Thornbow attempts to convince his fellow adventurers to take a stealthy approach, Nalan quickly charges on Ioris on the scamps, loosing magic missiles on them. Two of the Cacklers are easily downed before Tristan Zabaleta blows his horn. He asks the demonspawn to surrender, to which they comply if Tristan approaches Peryite's statue. Tristan is boded to touch a large green jade set in the foot of the statue. Upon touching it, he feels his spirit leaving his body peacefully floating up to the sky, while his body is left behind emitting what seems like green light. Tristan finds himself on a mountain top, when a green dragon starts approaching Tristan. The dragon reveals himself to be Peryite, god of Pestilence and Natural Order. He commemorates Tristan on his courage, showing a large chest with three items: a jar of seeds, a can of water and a large green jade, bidding Tristan to pick one of the items. Tristan carefully inquires about the items, to which Peryite grants him one question. Tristan asks which item Peryite would choose, upon which Tristan decides to take the jar of seeds. Upon touching the jar, he feels his spirit descending from the mountain, rejoining his corporeal self. The adventurers are then offered cheeses and mushrooms, which they politely refuse apart from Tristan (Nalan even goes as far to burn his given cheese, proclaiming its a religious practice of Innos).Setting up camp
With a little bit of daylight left, the adventurers continue their travels and reach the edges of the forest by nightfall. Setting up camp, the adventurers continue by talking about their backgrounds while enjoying a warm fire and some warmed-up rations. After these nice conversations, Oswald offers to take the first watch, which he spends scribbling in his booklet. Little did he know however, thugs were sneaking up on them and easily knocked out the occupied wizard. The remaining adventurers were easily overpowered during their night's rest as well. The first thing all of them can remember then is sitting on their knees, hands bound with rope before them while being gagged and kneeling in their underwear. Surrounded by humans and dark-elves wearing black clothing, they are approached by a particularly tall man, with a Red Scorpion symbol embroided on his cloak. He introduces himself as "Lieutenant Rafael de Scorpión, commander of this regiment of The Scorpions me gusta" (read in Spanish accent). He asks the adventurers what their business is on their territory. As all start answering talking through each other, Rafael asks the adventurers who their leader is. As none of them is their true leader, he gives them a minute to choose one of them as their leader, which would be Balin. Balin is then untied and his equipment returned apart from his weapons. After some proper introductions, Rafael decides to take the adventurers to the Skyward Fort to speak with his leader: Lord-Captain Gireon Uthram.Travel through the Purple Plains
Although clothed again, the adventurers are marched bound guarded by Scorpións, while Balin converses with Rafael in the back. During these talks, Balin discovers the Scorpións are actually mercenaries hired by the Uthramians (a.k.a the Red Armors). He learns they come from a different continent to the south, telling Rafael of his home Karak Azul in the far-west. In addition, he asks what to expect of the Uthramians, from which he gathers they are a hardy-folk, often summoning demons to their aid. In particular their commanding officer, Gireon Uthram should be watched out for, with his reputation as the "Butcher of Fezzan" proceeding him. In the meantime, Nalan and Oswald attempt all kinds of shenanigans to undo of their bonds. Alas, the godess of Chance Nocturnal, with no of their Mage Hands and Spiritual Weapon succeeding. Similarly, Tristan attempts to persuade the guard he has a wrist condition for which his bonds should be removed, but to no avail. Around 6 p.m. the gang arrives at the foot of the Conflux Mountain.Dealings at the Mountain
The adventurers find remainings of small houses at the foot of the mountain. From the packages lying around and the cart wheel tracks, they discover these buildings to be utilized for trade with the fortress. Ascending the mountain by a zig-zag pathway, well defensible by the little towers placed at each corner, they travel through a gatehouse. Here they find more of a plateau on the mountain, with a route further going up the mountain passing the fortress up ahead. Although not as majestic as it once were, with indications of a large battle remaining on the Dumer stonecraft. The walls have partially been repaired by the green skin slaves, the Uthramians of House Uthram hold. Oswald feeling very cold, is left in the barn guarded while the other adventurers are brought to the keep's hall. They are met by multiple Uthramian soldiers standing in guard position with a man with an eyepatch sitting on a throne. He reveals himself to be Gireon Uthram, Lord-Captain of House Uthram. The conversation that follows has a quite dire tone, with Gireon inquiring about the adventurers whereabouts, discovering they are in service of the Windhelm Trading Company. Most inquiries on him are however dismayed by him, addressing the adventurer's status quo. He makes the adventures accept his proposed border, splitting up the island in two zones. The East is to be held by the Uthramians, while in the West the adventurers are left in freedom. Balin and Nalan propose more contact between both parties, to which Gireon replies they should first earn this right. For now, he will initiate contact with their leader in the hold to possibly set up a trading post. The adventurers are then returned their belongings apart from their weaponry, which they will be given after safely being returned to their side of the border by lieutenant Rafael.Rewards Granted
