High Elves

The Altmer (High Elves) are your typical noble elf. Most high elf societies deem themselves of higher stature than for instance Humans or Dwarves. Among the family of elves, High Elves deem themselves closer to their ancestors the Arkayne than the other elves, as they weren't tainted/gifted by a deity like the Wood Elves and Dark Elves were. Groups of high elves are found in the Westfork since they awoke from their long slumber as described in The 40 year interim, but were before thought to be extinct in the Westfork. In regard to the Westfor, high elves are mostly found in Thessalonikos and Velod where their previous queen Ayrenn Silverstrand has allied herself with Gemlin I Strongborn. High elves have been blamed for the explosion of the Chantry's Enclave in 3E:1431, which have led them to be despised by many Myrtanians especially Monterrans and those preaching the Chant. Apart from Ayren's host, Altmer are often found in city slums or as members of Meneien's Mentar, unless they traveled from far away. High elves are generally known as the most magically gifted elves.

Character creation

The feats etc. listed in the PHB apply to high elves.

Settlements

High elves have some societies, primarily the following:
  • The Elven Court
  • Argwylon on the island of Mirk
  • Elves from Asgarnia

Mythological Origin

As mentioned above, the Altmer are the "old elves", those that were not turned or twisted by the gods. In many ways they resemble the most ancient elves, the Arkayne, but their race has also suffered from living through the less fantasmic ages.

Inclined religions

Most (previous) high elf societies followed teachings of the Aedra, but many Altmer also believe in their own supremacy (for instance claiming that Magnus, god of Magic, was in truth an altmer. Most Altmer do respect magic however and those that practice it.
