Nasamites
Nasamites are the nomadic tribal humans that live in the desert of Nasamones in the southern principality.
They live in small tribes that number between 100 and 200 individuals, it is believed that there are around 80 tribes of Nasamites.
Nasamite physique are usually taller and stronger than an average human, they possess skin tones that vary between light grey and ashy white, and their hairs are almost always white with occasional single black hair, in their mythology one of their legendary chieftain known as the golden wolf had blond hair but it is an unhead feature in modern nasamites.
Their eyes are usually of lighter colors ranging from pure withe to very light blue, grey, yellow, green, or even purple
Army
The tribes of Nasamones do not field any standing professional army but depending on the tribe up to half of the population belongs to a cast of warriors who serve as hunters and soldiers in the minor skirmishes between the tribes, as well as protection from the desert's deadly fauna. The tribes have no fear of being invaded by a larger kingdom, they are nomadic and well adapted to the desert, and any large army seeking to attack their tribes would die in the desert long before they can reach one of their encampments, and even if some army got close to reaching a tribal encampment they are capable of moving it faster than most armies can march. Furthermore, the desert holds no wealth of natural resources so no kingdom is interested in the region.Economy
The economy of the tribes is based on barter, few tribal merchants who deal with the nearby Sultanate use imperial coinage. The economy is largely too primitive to sustain large scale import or export operations, but some tribes sell their liquid fire as well as their weapons and armors in the sultanate where they are regarded as valuable exotic goods by the rich citizens of Hurur.Culture
Culture and cultural heritage
Few is known about this mysterious ethnic group most in the Empire do not believe they are human, but scholars have confirmed this beyond any shadow of a doubt. They are extremely vulnerable to direct sunlight and so they cover their entire body in clothes made of desert hemp or in armor made of various desert insect carapaces, depending if they are the warrior or worker cast.
Their eyes are also vulnerable to direct sunlight, for this reason, they cover them with lenses made of lighter desert insect carapace treated with acid to thin the membrane until it becomes transparent, the colors of these lenses range from orange to red to yellow, and they are either mounted on the helmets of their armor or fashioned into goggles.
Their warrior are fierce fighters hardened by the desert climate and fauna, their armor is fashioned to resemble humanoid insects probably to provoke fear in their enemies.
As weapons they use rifles fashioned from the legs of the giant desert locust, the leg once empty serves as a barrel and instead of gunpowder they use refined liquid fire, a bright yellow substance that when exposed to the air combusts violently, they hold the secret for this refinement.
In case of melee combat they either use short heavy swords similar to a gardening machete fashioned from the bones of various desert insects or their rifle, most of their rifles are uniquely built to double as a melee implement, whether as a two-handed club or an axe or a spear.
Their religion is alien to the other cultures in Ishar and more similar to the tribal populations of Uxal, they believe that every living being has a soul and that the soul never leaves the material plane, their "gods" are no gods at all, they believe that the wisdom of their ancestor can guide them or that their wrath may bring them harm.
Funerary and Memorial customs
Their mortuary cult is simple, people are buried in caves in the desert, natural or manmade, to seek their guidance one must sleep in the cave at night after drinking a hallucinogenic brew made from a combination of local flowers, during this ritual their ancestors should come to them in their dreams and bring them cryptic wisdom.
Common Myths and Legends
To explain their similarity with the cultures of Uxal they have an origin myth of sorts, they once were sea nomads who arrived from far away, and seeing the richness of the sea of Nasamones they decided to establish permanent settlements on the local islands, this however angered the ancestors who drained the sea turning it into a desert and cursed their people to be vulnerable to the sun.
If this myth were true it would mean that the Nasamites are the oldest recorded human civilization, considering that the elves date the draining of the sea of Nasamones During the second Elven-Orchis war, far earlier than any sign of human activity on the continent.
