Humans of Curupira Village
The Curupira Village is the only civilized settlement in the Curupira Forest, the region is de jure territory of the Kingdom of Rammas but it is practically independent due to the difficulty of travel.
The Curupira Forest is a place of trickery and illusions where nothing is as it may appear.
The citizens of the village survive and thrive only by working in harmony with the local shapeshifting creatures the mimics chiefly among them.
Mimics are bred and trained to assume the forms of useful objects, anything from tools, and furniture to weapons, armor and clothes, and in some rare cases even houses. For this reason, many jobs work differently in the village than in other civilized settlements, for example, a weaponsmith does not forge weapons from steel but trains his mimics to assume the form or forms of a weapon.
The village is governed by an elected mayor, each citizen age 16 or older has a vote and elections are held every ten years.
The village lives on a self-sustaining economy based on farming and does not participate in sizable commerce with other settlements.
The village has no need for a standing army due to the protection offered by the forest but maintains a small guard, and the mayor acts as the judge for crimes.
