Gheldior De-Verg AKA - Dior-E'Verg

Gheldior De-Verg was born on an unknown date, the son of an unknown traveler and a poor single girl who died after his birth, without having yet given him a name. It will be a merchant, Hardrin, moved by compassion, to collect that crying child from the alley where he lay in the cold hands of his young mother who has now passed away.   The merchant will baptize the young Gheldior, like his own grandfather, although many will later call him "the boy of Verg", from the name of the alley in which he was found in swaddling clothes. Soon his full name will change to Gheldior De-Verg, and with this name he will introduce himself when, as he grows up, he begins to collaborate in his adoptive father's business, attracting customers with his strong artistic skills.   Life as a merchant is hard, which is why they will almost always travel in a caravan with other merchants, and why Gheldior, despite loving art and despising violence, will soon find himself having to wield a sword - which he will learn to do more than discreetly, although his hands remain better suited to holding his violin.   When his adoptive father passed away, Gheldior, his only descendant, inherited his business, continuing his trading activity alongside his work as an itinerant bard, now enjoying great fame in certain circles.   Fame, however, is a double-edged sword. After a reception at the court of a nobleman which earned the no longer very young artist a half fortune, he met a terrible end: on the way back to his lodgings, tipsy and lonely late at night, the bard was in fact hunted down by a group of robbers and cutthroats.   Knowing he was at a disadvantage, the bard fought while trying to find a way to escape. He felled three enemies, wounding two more, before the remaining four managed to trap him on the edge of a roaring river. Here, left with no escape route, the bard tried everything, handing over the gold in the hope of distracting them enough to escape.   Unfortunately for him, the robbers no longer wanted just gold, but blood. So when he tried to distract them by handing them his riches, they reacted by ignoring the coins and attacking him. Several lunges later, when he was on the verge of death, the criminals collected the gold, stripped the bard of any valuables, and threw his body into the rapids.   No one ever knew what became of the once famous Gheldior De-Verg, a merchant with a great nose and fascinating bard.
