Kobolds

Kobold are some of the most short lived of the Befallen race with many not reaching fifty years of age. What they make up for in a short life time they make up for in sheer zeal for getting things done. As if they know they have a short lease on life Kobolds attempt to do everything at twice the speed of anyone else around them. As they have formed tight bonds with the Dragonborn race they make for an odd pairing when observed together. Dragonborn are stoic and methodical in their approach to most things. Kobolds shared the same experience after the Great Sundering as the Dragonborn did in regards to several generations being born before they reached a stable and final form. Over the eight generations it took them to do this they lived shorter and shorter lives and they also became shorter and shorter in height. As they became shorter they became more animated and excitable. They also began breeding like rabbits with female Kobolds having upwards of five children per pregnancy and able to have multiple pregnancies' in the twenty years of typical child bearing age. This meant a single female Kobold could theoretically have up to one hundred children in her lifetime and her children could be having children of their own within twelve years. This made for rather large families.   Because they have such large families Kobolds by need become excellent workers and they are an extremely industrious race only second to Dwarves in capability to remove ore from the ground. Watching a Kobold community is similar to watching an ant hive at work. Numerous Kobolds chirping and chattering and running around and between the legs of Dragonborn who handle the bulk of the heavy lifting is a typical sight. Kobolds have low endurance and stamina and they are prone to disease at a higher rate than the other Befallen races though. It is not known why Kobolds have such low constitution but a contagious disease can wipe out a Kobold community in a day or two which makes them an extremely fastidious race as well. A Kobold only sits still for any period of time to keep themselves well groomed and ensure every scale is in place, otherwise they are speaking at a breakneck clip and a blur of motion determined to squeeze every last drop out of their life as possible.   Kobolds unlike Dragonborn are not chromatic in color and instead come in a hue of metallic colors of which is a big to do regarding their caste system. Gold Kobolds are highly placed in their society and typically are rare and leaders of Kobold settlements although there can be several present at which point age would become a factor in determining seniority. After gold came silver, than bronze, copper and brass Kobolds who made up the common laborers in a community. Kobolds did not mistreat each other and it was understood that their numbers gave them strength and that no Kobold could be wasted. Kobolds venerated Dragons as gods for a period of time but when enough Dragons had eaten enough Kobolds they realized that this was not productive. They looked to their Dragonborn cousins and soon came to worship their own pantheon which was similar to the Dragonborn after a fashion but related more to their industrious nature and short life spans. Their Clerics did not have a favored weapon for any Domain believing that the humble pick was sufficient.
