Diffictura Malifica <SC-B2>

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

If one ignores her few scars and most visible cybernetics, her body is in good shape. Knowledgeable eyes would see she's got an athletic build that favors agility. And that she hasn't completely neglected physical strength for it. A fighter but not someone that usually fights unarmed.

Identifying Characteristics

Among the first couple things someone will likely notice about Malica are her cybernetic right eye, and arm on the same side. Though with the rest of her body she does what she can to maintain a human appearance.
Her cybernetics are made of silver and blueish-gray metal, each that requires power being powered by her natural magic. Fairly custom looking in their designs.
Partially covering a claw like scar over her right eye is the cybernetic that often replaces it, and is obviously not a normal eye. The pupil glows with a pale blue and isn't designed to allow proper blinking. Though the light does shut off when it's inactive. It has multiple modes of vision that are rarely used since they're only the one eye. It also can record small amounts and take pictures, contained within a small internal memory. Behind the eye is the channeling and connection port to make it actually usable. This connection being maintained by magic and not wires to allow it to be easily removed. Which she is glad for as she doesn't like to sleep with it in.
Her right arm is entirely cybernetic past her shoulder, and has no glowing components. The joints with an almost eerie lack of sound through a mix of magic and it's design. It also matches her body temperature most of the time, and can be easily hidden with a glamour. The internals are almost completely designed to channel and use magic, allowing her to use this arm to cast spells.
Her left forearm bears an arcane mark that glows when active, though she typically keeps it covered by an arm wrap. It is not a good thing, it will get her killed if she doesn't get help with what it helps find her. There's visible scars around and under it that don't disturb its shape any. It's harder to tell if these are defensive or self-inflicted attempts to remove it, perhaps both.
Her other scars tell of someone that's survived many fights and at least a handful of surgeries. Among the most notable however are the scars on her back, which appear to have been inflicted by claws not unlike what took her eye. Even appearing about the same age. Surgical scars may be picked out by the keen eyed. There is also another barely visible cybernetic, the biggest indication of its presence being a few small connection ports along her spine.
This cybernetic replaces the vast majority of her spine, beginning about halfway down her neck. Several ribs have been partially replaced around it as well. There's a few small ports that are really the biggest indication it's there in the first place.
(a few other bones have also been replaced but this isn't really visible so I'm not worried about detailing where those are beyond mental notes.)

Special abilities

Capable of magic for a broad mix of things. From activating her weapon and conjuring arrows among other small things, to teleporting around or turning invisible.
One thing she, perhaps surprisingly, lacks is tracking with her magic.
If she doesn't choose to remain invisible, her combat style is to gain or close distances with teleports after attacking from stealth. Poisoned darts to slow or stop what they hit, choking clouds of magic to render their target helpless. Should she start to be overwhelmed at close range, she can cast a blinding burst of magic to buy herself a few moments of time.
She can also, for a short time, enhance how quickly she heals and recovers her energy.
The arrows she can conjure are short-lived, though they don't need to last a long time to do their jobs. Ranging from armor peircing, blunted, or even flaming arrowheads. She can also conjure and fire many at once to mixed results.
She can also sense auras though this tends to be a fairly vague thing of just 'roughly this sorta thing and this powerful', rarely does it give her detailed insight.

Apparel & Accessories

Common outfit components for her are hooded jackets or trench coats, sleeveless shirts, jeans or cargo pants tucked into flat bottomed boots or cloth wrapping that let her walk quieter than normal. Favoring shades of blues, greens, and greys, or something that falls between the three. If she doesn't have a hood her hair is generally worn down with a bandana holding it back, sometimes in a ponytail, rarely in a braid.
One of her more unique looks is a darker greenish-blue jacket, accompanied by a hood and cloth mask that's a few shades more green than blue. Her pants match the hood and aren't tucked into her boots, which might even have a heel. An almost metallic looking light blue mask covering the upper part of her face, while a pair of light grey gloves covers both hands. Hiding even her cybernetic arm from sight.
Around her right wrist is a thin silver chain of a necklace turned bracelet, on it hangs a simple wedding band.

Specialized Equipment

Almost all of her gear is magitech, she is quite fond of it, though she has a few talismans and charms with no tech.
Weapons
Magitech Projector:
A small device that fits comfortably in its wielder's hand. It looks like a cross between the Vanguard's energy Bow and Sword grips, covered in runes. However once activated with magic this small device projects either the form of a bow or a long blade, though it may be possible other weapons can be created with a bit of tinkering. The projection is a translucent glow, ranging from green to blue, solid to the touch and hazardously sharp when a blade. Arrows are conjured using the wielder's own magic, not a feature of the projector.
This device also does not like being held by someone that isn't the owner. And though it doesn't cause harm it does cause a burning feeling of slowly increasing intensity in people that can feel pain. Changing hands will only cause this feeling to grow in intensity faster.
Channeling Glove:
Worn on her left hand, this relatively heavy-duty glove is covered in patterns that glow softly. Capable of channeling her magic effectively, especially into her weapon of choice, as well as protecting her arm from being skinned when using the bow form. It also has a specialized attachment for creating and firing poisoned darts.
Garrote:
Though she doesn't often carry it anymore, this simple but deadly tool is still part of her kit. The cord is about a foot long and made of a weave of thin but sturdy wiring and strong fiber threads, some of the wires are made of silver or iron. On either end of the cord are rubber-coated metal beads large enough to easily grip.
Best used to catch someone from behind, this weapon can be used to strangle a victim, or snap their neck. In a pinch it can also be swung as the beads on either end for gripping do have a decent amount of weight to them, and are quite sturdy.
Other Notable things
Mental Cloaking Talisman:
This talisman is worn around her neck and renders her mind harder to focus on for psychics. It also obscures some other supernatural senses (such as soul-seeing) though not all. It was mainly for hiding her from psychics, not mystic types.
Glamour Charm:
If activated this charm will help sustain larger glamours, though she doesn't use it often, and it remains visible on the chain around her neck.
Sensory boost charm:
One of the many charms hanging around her neck. This one enhances her senses enough she can pick up things she can't otherwise pick up in a fight, such as something coming up behind her.
Bracelet Talisman:
Unknown use so far, but she has it. (Note: May scrap because I never remember it until I see it in notes >.>)
Lesser charms:
A collection of lesser protective charms that largely wouldn't serve to protect her from anything major. However the components used to make them can be re-arranged into new and more powerful charms or even used as spell components.

Personal history

Early Life
Nelari grew up in a large city. Something of a trouble maker of the kind that'd sneak out at night to hang out with friends and run around the city. Things to escape a boring home life with a decently well-off family. Her magic potental awakened in her mid-teens and her excitement to learn she had cool new potental was smothered by her family's desire for her to... well... Not practice magic. Something something it's dangerous, something something wanting a safer life path for her.
Her life was her own, however, and she had other plans with it.
Practicing and learning in secret, she learned how to control her abilities enough to prevent misshaps. Even growing better at hiding them to keep her talents hidden. She still studied different magics, wanting to learn more about it in general and see if she could locate a focus. She found her focus but paid little attention to it in favor of other tricks that caught her eye.
Her desire to learn more magic intensified when one of her night-wandering friends stopped coming around rather abruptly. Rumors went around that he'd been injured and gotten sick from an infection, a few said attacked, but details were lacking. Concerned and curious, she made time one night to sneak over to where his family lived.

Apprentice Mage
When Nelari was old enough and felt confident in her ability to strike out alone, she did just that. Packing her things into her car (at least, as much as she could reasonably fit) and leaving the place she grew up for another city entirely.
Her trip was interupted by an encounter with a troublesome shadow creature and the monster hunter that was persuing it. A few well-placed displays of magic and a great deal of stubborn persistance later, and Nelari managed to convince the hunter to begrudgingly teach her.


Old also it's LONG so spoiler box
From a big city somewhere (not paragon or the isles), noped out of where she lived when she learned she could use magic. Ended up getting picked up by the Knives of Artemis at some point later. Working for them and Malta on more than one occasion. On one job where Malta was present she met an operative codenamed 'Silver Circuit 3-5'. She was the only survivor of the knives present as they fought another Meta that collapsed the building on them. Almost killing Circuit as well in his efforts to save her. She killed their target and then healed Circuit as best she could before they regrouped with his unit.
A difficult to remove tracking spell is placed on her at some point, painting a target on her back for a powerful entity that wants to kill her.
This thing attacks and nearly kills her at least once, her survival and continued operation as a knife is due to several magitech cybernetics and other replacement parts from one such attack. Once she got used to them... she became deadlier than before. Though still fearfully dodged the creature when she could tell it was near.
After a time she asked permission from her superiors to move to Malta's ranks, they had a bit of concern but allowed it. She did not leave under bad circumstances, and still holds her former sisters in high regard. Oath-bound not to speak of their secrets, which she intends to take to her grave.
Under Malta, she bounced around before being settled into a rank and role, one that often kept her moving and away from the beast that hunts her. Working alongside Circuit more who was surprised to see she'd turned into a magitech cyborg. Their relationship remained professional at first though neither could keep from growing close enough that was no longer true.
They were both assigned to Project: Psi. Him as a handler for Subject Zero, now known as Silent Eyes , her as a watchdog and clean-up in rare times either was needed. Though the project was a bit short-lived, as Silent destroyed the lab it was primarily worked on within. She and Circuit ended up mostly separated as they were re-stationed to separate places. She opted to just remain glad she wasn't in the lab when it was destroyed.
Things were mostly uneventful for a few more years... until Silent was located and recruited into another Malta Cell, though her powers were missing. Malica was relocated as an overseer, hidden from all but the leader, Onyx 9-4, and Silver Circuit 3-5. Onyx was not allowed to know what their relation to the newest recruit, 'Echo Black 1-1', was other than highly classified. It was a waiting game on when Silent's psionics would resurface.
Almost five years before Silent's powers returned, a month for her to leave Malta and vanish on them. They perhaps trained her a little too well. Though dealing with her outing their entire current operation on her way out was higher on the list of things to clean up.
Malica and Circuit remained stationed with Onyx's cell, even after a few relocations, finally, the cell settled in the Isles... And discovered the runaway psychic had gone there to vanish.
This time she couldn't escape, surely.
Ooooh, how things have gone sideways for Malica since.
Onyx put out an open hit on Silent, but Malica wanted to capture her alive since she knew about Project: Psi. Silent heard about the former quickly, her and her new allies proving dangerous foes. Most having recently become Incarnates and quite capable ones at that. Though Malica's involvement remained iffy knowledge for a short time, same with which side she was on.
After a couple of months of preparation, Silent lead a strike on Onyx's Cell. The team she had efficient in hitting their marks, while she herself was more covert and hard to track. The two agents she had working on the inside made mistakes. Circuit took the fall and was bait for a trap Malica had been preparing for Silent. Unfortunately, Malica only learned he was traitorous when it was too late for him to be spared. She made sure his death was a quick one, before setting everything else up for Silent's arrival.
Silent's team was drawn over to another location, a strike against a Longbow base lead by Silent's other double-agent, who had placed the fall on Circuit in the first place. Silent was supposed to meet with Circuit in what was supposed to be a quick meeting that would reveal Onyx's location. Instead, she was greeted by a psychic dampener and a group of Knives lead by Malica.
Fortunately for Silent, she had a distress beacon, and her team was quickly guided to her location by her other double agent. Malica was not prepared for how fast they moved and was driven off, Silent was rescued before she could be dragged away.
Malica was out for over two weeks and has continued keeping her head low to avoid getting killed. Though they know she is still alive, and for a short time an active operative. Though more recent events have pushed her into leaving Malta and burning that bridge in a violent fire when she has a target to hit. And since several of Silent's allies want her to go good, she's trying at least. Though weather she will stick to a path of redemption or not... well that remains to be seen.

Education

Though it is known at least some of her combat training comes from the Knives of Artemis and Malta. She rarely speaks of anything before that. It's not really clear who taught her how to use magic, or if that was something she learned on her own. Malta has also given her some training though exactly what is unclear.
She HAS however put a lot of research into Incarnates, the Well, Furies, Talons, and psionic powers. The psionics knowledge largely relating to her involvement in Project: Psi, along with some of the incarnate research. The rest is mostly focused on undoing what happens to convert the Talons, at least to return their personalities.
She has also done research on a number of different creatures of mythologies, and recognizes a fair few of them. Though she may not be able to list all of the details about them, she's not completely clueless either.

Employment

Though she doesn't typically speak much of details for much of her past, there are a few things she'll share. She has worked as a Knives of Artemis assassin, her leaving was amicable, and from them she went straight to Malta. She is oath bound not to talk about what she did for them in detail however, and shares little more than that. (Because I don't want to detail it out, and I don't have much on the inter workings of the Knives TO do much with her background. Oathbound thing could at least be made a plot point later since breaking it would piss off the talons.)
She has worked for Malta for over a decade. She was asigned onto Project: Psi as a tracker and cleanup crew. Being able to hide from psychics with her magic made it handy for her to observe 'Subject Zero' undetected. An incident caused the project to be temporarily shut down, however, and she was reassigned to other things. Some number of years later Project: Psi became active again, as Subject Zero was relocated and recovered, and she was once again assigned to the project for covert observation. This time staying even when her target vanished again.
When her target was located the third time, she was given new orders: Observe, and capture or kill when the chance arose. Such a chance did pop up, as Silent Eyes organized an operation to disable the Malta Cell Mali was part of, Mali failed. Losing almost all of the Knives she'd brought in with her, as well as the psychic dampener and Malta team that had come along for the ambush. Mali herself almost being killed, saved only by teleportation magic she'd prepared ahead of time.
A few weeks of recovering and hiding later... and Malta seemed to want her dead. At the same time Mali no longer wanted to be part of them. The bridge was burned to nothing, and the people she fought against are now the ones she works for.

Mental Trauma

Currently she's fumbling around after a lot of bad things happening in a frightfully short timeframe. She's grasping at straws with the only lifeline she can really see if she wants to survive: switching sides and alignments to fall in place with the good guys.
By some miracle she's actually managing to do that, though to a nearly sucidal extent.

Morality & Philosophy

This is... not something that can easily be put in few words with Mali. It's complicated and even in the process of changing.
It used to be she could carry out orders to kill or worse without issue but now she's pushing to change that. Or at least change her fighting habbits away from that.

Motivation

She has a number of goals, some easier to achieve than others.
One of her less spoken of objectives that is probably the hardest is freeing the Knives of Artemis that were converted into the 'Knives of Vengeance' by the Talons. It pains her to see her former 'sisters' turned into monsters. Though the physical changes may not be reversible, she seeks to find a way to restore their minds, and some semblance of who they were.

Constantly observant if she doesn't have something plaguing her thoughts. Speaking with a quiet tone that's been slowly recovering its strength. Most movement being tilts of her head, either hiding her face in a hood or a curious side-tilt.

If she's nervous however she gets fidgety, often keeping her gaze on the ground. She'll become very jumpy and easily startled as well.
