Mudeweian Kingfisher
The Mudeweian Kingfisher is an equatorial bird with an average wingspan of two meters which, as the name suggests, feeds on the oceanic fish of the region. The bird's home on the coast is far enough south to only rarely come into contact with Stenza explorers and biologists; the Sandibari have more extensive knowledge of them while also being blessed with being exempted from Kingfisher hunting patterns. As it stands, however, Kingfishers have no natural predators despite sometimes being a focus of the "hunts for the exotic" conducted by rich non-Stenza Imperials. These safaris of sorts are rarely conducted out of fear that the Stenza will intervene for unknown reasons.
The Mudeweian Kingfisher is a migratory bird, following the warm air across coastal territory as the Stenza follow cold fronts farther north. They are also known to "evacuate" whenever a storm comes through, perhaps following similar sensory logic to other species across the planet, including the two intelligent ones: Sandibari and Stenza also clear their usual haunts at the first sign of unusual weather.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Mudeweian Kingfisher has grey-blue wings and a light-blue underside, which best serves as camouflage to its ocean-bound prey, but which is plainly visible to Sandibari. Like almost all Mudeweian birds, the Kingfisher has four limbs, marking it as from a different tree of life than, say, the Sandibari or the Basket Horns, and therefore more closely related to The Stenza than any six-limbed species.
Kingfishers, as the name suggest, catch fish with their long, radially arranged talons, fly their prey back to their nests, and tear into them with long, hooked beaks.
Biological Cycle
The yearly extreme weather causes the Mudeweian Kingfisher to follow a sort of lop-sided figure-eight pattern favoring the ocean and inland seas. This only causes a slight change in diet annually, and sometimes causes isthmus-based Sandibari to also temporarily leave their abodes despite not being in any danger.

I love the fact that they can sense when a storm is coming. Really cool article :D
As you can see I live for the biology bits :D
Definitely :D
