The Cenobite

High in the Drakainan Mountains lives the legendary colony of 25 Cenobites. Drakainan lore claims the first band of acolytes received their calling directly from Altais, The ONE responsible for plenty.  As the chosen, Altais wished these select few to become the scribes of all things Drakaina. 
The Cenobites are revered due to their strict adherence to The Faith and their strong dedication to recording all myths, legends, and history of the tribe. In addition, they are the shepherds of the herd of Kozelle that provide their hides for the fine parchment used in illuminating the Drakaina's history.
The colony consists of exactly 25 Drakainan citizens who have reached The Age of Enlightenment, being truehearted, and who have taken the Oath of Steadfastness. While all Drakainans celebrate The Age of Enlightenment when they reach the age of 20, those few who have grown in The Faith are invited by the Cenobite Elders to live at the Shviente Miesja, or the holy place of the colony. They apprentice for one year.  During that year, the selected ones are stringently challenged in many ways.
The apprentices are tested daily, however, they are unaware of these tests and do not know what the passing outcomes may be. Any citizen desirous of the title Cenobite may be tested only once. In order to become an ordained Cenobite, the apprentice must pass all 365 tests administered by the Elders.  One failure will eliminate the candidate immediately.  Upon failure, the apprentice is returned to the village from whence they came.  
Those who are still standing on day 365, if any, may remain with the Cenobites in the Shviente Miesja for the remainder of their lives.  While the colony must remain at exactly 25 souls, the apprentices can number as many as 100.  When an Elder passes on, a single apprentice will be confirmed to the order and then begins the formal training process.
