Temriaz

The End of Everything

Temriaz, the Black Sun, is the imprisoned god of constant change, chaos, madness. No one remembers the previous name of this god, at the Edge of Creation, as he was imprisoned ages ago by a coalition of deities to prevent the destruction of existence itself. Although imprisoned, Temriaz still kept a large part of his powers and influence over Mriyar, often seeking his way to the minds of mortals through nightmares. He is considered to be the first deity to stray away from Creators and become the Renegade God.
His worship is forbidden all across Mriyar, making his worshippers hide in secret and deserted places where they can conduct their rituals and rites. Most of the worshippers are fanatics, that believe that Material Plane needs to be destroyed and reborn as a "New World" that will come after liberation of the Black Sun.
His own plane of existence, that he created in the beginning of times, the Bottomless Depths of the Void, serves as his eternal prison. The Celestial Blacksmith, in his Eternal Dream, continually forges chains of the Black Sun, while Temriaz manipulates the minds of the mortals to start a new world war and weaken the Celestial Blacksmith just enough to break free.

Appearance

Temriar is depicted, if at all, as "a creature of rolling, hungry ink and darkness", a spreading cloud of lightless destruction. It is endless, black, inky, filled with teeth and malice, laughter and hatred. Every record of the Black Sun is demonic, leaving his visage of any distinct features, except for an all-seeing, filled with madness eye, and clawed tentacle outgrowths, protruding from the amorphous black void.

Worship

You will often hear "Nothing matters, so everything must go" from many of Temriaz's priests. All of his clerics are extremely secretive and trust only fellow cultists. They lead foul rituals, including human sacrifice, and search ancient sites for clues to freeing their deity. Due to the Black Sun's imprisonment, his priests must remain in contact with a site or object holding some of the Black Sun's power in order to use their magic.
Temriaz' temples (often in the shape of black ziggurats) are usually hidden, due to necessity.
The only known "celebration" in honour of Temriaz happens on the Sun eclipse (by Hores or Rudatul), when his worshippers set their plans of starting chaos all around in motion. On such days, many assassination attempts take place, as well as general calls for rioting.
The only exceptions to "chosen targets" of these mayhems are priests of the Lightbearer.

Commandments of the Black Sun

  • Everything comes to an end. It will be a mercy to speed up the process.
  • Destruction is the only way for chaos. Chaos is the only force that can save the world.
  • Offer and siphon power to the Black Sun. With his arrival, we'll have our true freedom.
