Zurium

Zurium is the refined form of Azurite. It is primarily used as fuel for airships, however its potent thaumic power means it can be used to power other magical effects. It is manufactured by grinding raw Azurite into a fine powder. The extent of its properties are not well understood and many societies are intensely studying it.
Zurium is known to be a dangerous and sometimes unstable substance. If not handled correctly, Zurium is prone to explosions, with effects both physical and thaumic. Exposure to Zurium is also harmful, causing strange phenomena to occur if it is exposed to a creature or not properly contained. Accidents involving Zurium have been known to cause alterations to people's limbs, strange growths, and other thaumic effects. Unlike Azurite, which is usually not harmful in small quantities, even brief exposure to a small amount of Zurium is very dangerous.
Due to its effect on the Weave, it is visible to certain spells, such as Detect Magic. The thaumic effects of exposure to Zurium are also often visible to such spells even after the Zurium source has been removed.
