Thaerwood

Thaerwood is the forested home of wood elves. This region of Nilandra is where ancient elves first arrived on the continent from Talsirenn. Over the centuries, the ancient elves that settled here evolved into wood elves.
Thaerwood is home to the great Thaer Oaks, a type of tree that can grow tremendously large. Thaer Oaks can be grown using druidic magic to be hollow on the inside to allow residents to live within. Some Thaer Oaks can be grown so large that they can support an entire city within their trunks.
In ancient times, there was a civil war between the wood elves of Thaerwood when Mieli was split. One faction followed Silvanus and the other followed Morrigan. The faction that followed Morrigan engaged in necromancy and became so skilled at that style of magic that they developed their own style of necromancy, which feeds off the life of organisms around it. This faction evolved over time to become the pale elf race.

Greenshade

Greenshade is the southern part of Thaerwood that is home to the druidic wood elves that follow Silvanus. The wood elves live in harmony with nature and Silvanus's teachings. They largely live in druidic circles within Thaer Oak trees and respect the natural cycle. They are vehemently opposed to all forms of necromancy.

Bleakwood

Bleakwood is the northern part of Thaerwood that is home to pale elves. Bleakwood is a dark and desolate place where the plantlife is largely dried and dead. Bleakwood was originally a small part of the north of Thaerwood, but over the centuries the pale elves that live there have expanded their territory to cover almost half of Thaerwood.
Today, the Bleakwood is a corrupted wood. It is full of dead, blackened trees that no longer sprout leaves. A permanent darkness hangs over the region and even during the day it is gloomy and grey.
