Temora

Temora is a federation of Goliath tribes in southern Ashun. It has a loose government that consists of representatives from each tribe.
The three tribes that make up the federation have their own cities and territories within Temora. The tribes are largely self-governing with the Temoran council having limited power.
The three tribes are:

• Avaratta: The Avaratta tribe controls the temperate forests of the Avaratta Peninsula. Avaratta City is a large settlement constructed mostly from wood. It is surrounded in parts by wooden walls, however its position of relative safety has meant they are not often used.
• Galendora: The Galendra tribe controls the northern portion of Temora on the edge between the Brushlands and the Outlands. Galendora city is the largest in Temora and surrounded by thick stone walls as a defence against the orc raiders of the Outlands.
• Vathunava: The Vathunava tribe controls the eastern portion of Temora south of Echo Hills. Most of their territory is in the Outlands. Like Galendora City, Vathunava City is surrounded by thick walls to defend against orc raiders.

History

Before the Collapse

In the centuries before the Collapse, the regions now known as the Outlands and the Maarlands were largely inhabited by giants. Not much is known today about their society or customs.
Sometime in the leadup to the Collapse, the population of giants dwindled for unknown reasions. Goliaths emerged in the region as the their offspring. Goliath legends state that the giants left to fight the titan of fire during the Collapse. However, three giants stayed behind - Galendora, Avaratta, and Vathunava. The three remaining giants taught the Goliaths, their children, how to fight and survive on their own, and then they left to join their brethren in the fight against the titan.

Post-Collapse

Giants went extinct during the Collapse, and Goliath legend states that they were wiped out while fighting the fire titan in the Ashmounts. In the Goliath tongue, which is the language of giants, their word for the region spanning from the Brushlands to the Maarlands is Gol'kor, meaning the Land of Giants. Their name for the Ashmounts, Gol'Makar, means the Grave of Giants.
For the next several hundred years, the three Goliath tribes largely kept to themselves. They coexisted peacefully and traded, but rarely fought together against common foes. During this time, orc raiders continued to be a problem for the Galendora and Rolundra tribes.
In 679 PC, a particularly powerful band of orcs managed to raid far into the territory of the three tribes, even reaching Avaratta City. The attack resulted in all three tribes being pushed out of their own cities. The tribes banded together to drive the orcs out of their lands. Ever since this success, the tribes have had a strong philosophy of cooperation making them stronger. They formed an alliance, and then a federation, naming it Temora.
