Ornox

Ornox is a kingdom of crocodilian humanoids known as Sarcons in the Raintree Forest in Ashun.

Monarchy

Ornoxians are ruled by the king or queen from the capital city of Jarsoss deep in the rainforest.

Culture

Ornoxian Sarcons value communal contributions. Communities usually work together in all aspects of life, including hatching eggs and raising their young. In the larger cities, districts make up the boundaries between the different communities.
Eggs are usually placed together in large, dedicated hatching pools. Parents often do not know specifically which eggs are theirs and usually do not supervise the hatching process - this is done by hatchers, members of the community who are experts at bringing baby Sarcons out of their eggs. Over the course of the child's life, the entire community contributes in various ways to raising them. Ornoxian parents do not usually care which children are theirs and which are another's, as all children are cared for equally by all of the adults.
They use stone slabs for writing and record-keeping.
Some scholars have noted the similarities between Sarcons and Saurids and speculated that they may be the same species. Ornoxians speak a unique dialect of Draconic.
Ornoxian fashion places a strong emphasis on bright colours. Ornoxians frequently wear the feathers of brightly coloured birds all about their persons and use powdered dyes to colour their scales.

History

Before the Collapse

Ornox is likely one of the oldest civilisations on Morn. They were also a seafaring people, with many stone slabs in Ornox from before the Collapse depicting Sarcons travelling on ships. Ornox likely began with the coastal city of Zashrix. When there were oceans, Zashrix would have been the hub of a fishing and seafaring society.
