Snurri Snowsong

Snurri Snowsong was a student of Wise Nalomanterys; the shaman of the Foxtail tribe; and a prophet, who spoke the most famous prophecy in Elven history, the Prophecy of the Champion. He served 3 chieftains in his long life before disappearing on a vision quest and never returning. All Elves are superstitious, but the most superstitious among them believe that he went in search of the Champion, and will bring them back to begin his prophecy. The day of his departure is celebrated in honor of this superstition.

Student of Wise Nalomanterys

Wise Nalomanterys, one of the most revered figures in Elven history, was born before the Elven Wars in the city of Eretri. When he was young, the Humans came and exiled his race to the north. Wise Nalomanterys became a philosopher, extolling piousness, patience, and physical prowess. Until the end of his days, he was known for his teachings and his first-hand experience in the old world.   Wise Nalomanterys was a strict master, and took very few students because of his near-impossibly high standards. But Snurri Snowsong was one of his students, and though all of Wise Nalomanterys' students are famous and respected in their own rights, Snurri is the most famous and most respected. Wise Nalomanterys demanded complete dedication from his students, and Snurri was required to live with Wise Nalomanterys and perform the same daily rituals as him. Snurri Snowsong learned with his master through discussion of theology and observations.

Shaman of the Foxtail Tribe

When Wise Nalomanterys felt that Snurri had learned all he could, he released him from his apprenticeship. Snurri returned to his tribe and was asked to become the shaman. A shaman is a spiritual leader in Elven culture; although they wield no magical abilities, they are spiritual guides and advisors to the chief. By all accounts, Snurri was an excellent shaman, serving under 3 chiefs over several centuries. The Foxtail tribe became quite powerful under his leadership.

Prophecy

One day, after weeks of fasting, Snurri Snowsong spoke the words of the Prophecy of the Champion. His words gave hope to the Elves who thought they would never live to see the old world reclaimed from the heathens who had taken it from them. Word spread like wildfire through the distant and disparate tribes, leading to a sudden moot to discuss the ramifications. During the moot, all tribes agreed to stay disunited so that the champion could unite them, as the prophecy said. Snurri himself left shortly after the moot, disappearing somewhere in the east. He never said what he was doing, but his people believe, even hundreds of years later, that he will return with the Champion in tow.

Hi there! You may not know me, but I am the sponsor of the Great Leader of Their People Summer Camp Prompt this year! Since you wrote this article, I would like to know, would you mind me reading it aloud on my Twitch channel this week? I have a lot to get through so it helps to do it live while people watch. I've scheduled to go live at 8am and 8pm Eastern Time every weekday. If you join and comment, I can go over your article right then and there! If you'd like to coordinate a specific date, let me know. If you aren't able to make it (or don't want to be present live), you can also always watch streams after the fact on my YouTube channel   BUT, if the answer is NO because you'd rather I not, it's okay! Not agreeing to be streamed definitely does not put you at any disadvantage for winning in my eyes. Please respond swiftly by replying here (make sure to click REPLY under my comment or I won't be notified), message me on my World Anvil profile page, Discord, or anywhere else you find me online.   Thanks again! Whatever you choose, God bless and much success! <3
