Chieftain's Chair

The Chieftain's Chair (or just The Chair) is deceptively named; it's not a chair at all, but rather a massive keep where the Chieftain of Qemt'Or executes their orders. It was built in the distant past, when Mandaru captured Bushaad from the Hobgoblin nation. Over the years, the building has been in and out of use as various chieftains favored or disfavored the city, but it managed to slowly build up in size, getting additions over the years until it eventually dominated a whole section of the city, the so-called "Politickin' Quarter." Today, the Qemti government focuses mainly on mercantile and economics, so the military layout of the Chair has been modified to accommodate bureaucratic offices.

History

The Chieftain's Chair was born at the inception of the Qemti Empire, when Mandaru took the Hobgoblin city of Bushaad, modernly the capital of Qemt'or, after a long siege. After razing the walled city built from stone, the Orcs rebuilt it in their style: open air and built from wood and hide. The Chieftain's Chair started out small early on. No more than a hide tent with some tables inside to place maps. But it didn't stay small for long: Bushaad began to regrow to its former glory, since it was located in excellent farmland on a river and near the ocean. As the city grew, the Chieftain's Chair grew. From a building to plan military excursions, it grew to incorporate an armory, training grounds, a prison, and more.

Today

Today, the Chieftain's Chair has been modified to reflect the empire's new focus on trade. The armories have been turned into offices, the training grounds have been turned into gardens, the prison has been turned into a storehouse. Qemt'Or has been the largest military power in Morgrave for so long that it's strange to see it as anything else. The rest of Morgrave wonders how long their change of heart will last before the Chieftain's Chair is returned to its old use.
