Biography
Ultumil Daephine prefers the quiet life, though working at The Rusted Blade ensures he doesn’t always get it. A reserved and somewhat brooding figure, he spends most of his time cleaning up after rowdy patrons, running errands, and keeping the tavern in order. While many would find such work tedious, Ultumil enjoys it—keeping busy lets him avoid unnecessary interactions, and he’s more than happy to let others take the spotlight.
Unlike his lively coworker, Dorlia, Ultumil is naturally wary of strangers. He rarely trusts adventurers at first glance, seeing too many of them as reckless and self-absorbed. However, those who prove themselves reliable (or at least not insufferable) might find him a decent, if dry-humored, conversationalist. He gets along well with the rest of the tavern staff, though his friendship is a quiet, unspoken thing—shown more through small gestures of reliability rather than words.
His reluctance to engage with heroics is perhaps ironic, given that he hails from a long line of renowned elven warriors and spellcasters. While his family’s name carries weight in certain circles, Ultumil has no interest in that life. Whether it’s due to disillusionment, personal philosophy, or simply a desire to live on his own terms, he’s made it clear that he wants no part in the family legacy. Instead, he finds his peace within The Rusted Blade, sweeping floors and keeping his head down—content, for now, to let others chase glory.
