Korrash the Drift
Biography
Korrash served as a swamp-scout during the tail end of the Broodwar—navigating backwaters, laying traps, and relaying messages for rebel cells in Krog Nocrum. After the fighting ended, he refused the council’s offer to stay in the militia, choosing instead to “live off the drift.” His knowledge of the local currents, hidden inlets, and unnatural fish activity is unmatched, and some say he can feel where the soul-waters of the swamp are thin. He’s grown wary of Krog’s rapid transformation. While he doesn’t speak openly against the new merchant-backed expansion, he hasn’t exactly hidden his distaste either—especially when tourists disrupt his fishing routes. Korrash is a broad-shouldered, leathery-skinned hobgoblin with a fisher’s build—stocky, sun-worn, and scarred from years of brine and swamp beasts. His ears are long and curled back, framing a face weathered by squinting into misty waters and stormy skies. A stern topknot crowns his head, and his expression always rests somewhere between grumpy suspicion and deadpan disapproval. He wears a faded sleeveless tunic, a belt thick with tools and bait, and a tattered wrap over swamp-stained trousers. His boots are waterproofed leather, cracked and soaked from constant use. On one hip, a pouch of tackle and a rusty gutting knife; on the other, a coiled rope net. His left eye is fogged and milky—whether due to age, injury, or an encounter with a spectral swamp eel, no one knows for sure. Over one shoulder, he carries an old enchanted fishing rod of curious craftsmanship... Gruff but respected, Korrash is a creature of habit and deep-rooted swamp wisdom. He rarely speaks unless spoken to, but when he does, his voice is a low drawl of grim pragmatism and unexpected poetry. Children call him “One-Eye the Drift” and dare each other to talk to him. He’ll often share dry swamp proverbs that may or may not be real: “If a fish swims toward your line, you ain’t the one huntin’.” Though largely solitary, Korrash has a soft spot for misfits, especially those who live on the edge like he does.
