Apprentice Rynzo
Biography
Rynzo is the energetic, slightly overwhelmed apprentice of Nharzul Lorebone, the ancient historian who represents the knowledge-keeping faction on Krog Nocrum’s ruling council. While Nharzul prefers silence, slowness, and study, Rynzo is a whirl of energy—often seen bolting down vine-wrapped corridors with stacks of parchment barely balanced in his arms. Rynzo was selected from a pool of promising students across Mordonia due to his uncanny skill for locating obscure information, even under pressure. He’s especially talented at cross-referencing planar events, regional myths, and genealogies—something Nharzul took keen interest in after Rynzo corrected one of his old entries… publicly. Though his appointment was viewed with surprise by more traditionalist scholars, those close to the archives know that if anyone can keep up with the tangled history of Krog Nocrum, it's Rynzo. Still, there's a whispered rumor—spoken quietly over ink pots and candlelight—that Nharzul may one day name him as his successor… if Rynzo can ever learn to stop panicking long enough to believe it himself. Rynzo is a young, blue-gray tabaxi with tiger-like markings and bright sea-green eyes full of constant worry. His fur is clean but perpetually ruffled, especially around the cheeks and whiskers. He wears a snug orange vest and checker-patterned trousers, suggesting a misplaced effort to appear orderly despite his erratic pace. His oversized round spectacles are always slightly askew, and he often has a quill stuck behind one ear without realizing it. Rynzo is earnest, loyal, and terminally anxious. He deeply respects Nharzul—possibly to a fault—and is constantly terrified of disappointing him, despite Nharzul’s gentle nature. This often causes Rynzo to overwork himself, apologizing for things no one noticed and sprinting across the city for documents that didn’t actually need retrieving. Beneath the nerves, however, lies a brilliant mind. Rynzo can recall details from obscure footnotes at will, piece together mythic timelines from fragmented lore, and handle complex magical cataloguing systems without error. He simply doesn't believe in himself—yet. He talks too fast, trips over his own words, and frequently mutters to books like they’re listening. Yet his heart is in the right place, and many in the archive have come to trust him far more than he realizes.
