The Arms of Ope Epileptiform

Once meant to torment, then broken and used by the tormented

Sometimes, Father just wanted to know what time it was. Other times, he wanted to stop it entirely. Either way, you learned quickly to make sure he would always know what it was and that you always did what he said, just to avoid seeing that pocket watch leave his pocket.
A pocketwatch whose hands were two metal arms, with pointing index fingers at the tips, formerly wielded by Ope Epileptiform . It had a button on the side which, when pressed, would freeze time itself, except for the wielder of the watch. While it was useful in getting past guards protecting what he sought, he found more pleasure in using it to punish Allianora Epileptiform whenever she disappointed him in any of their heists. She had to be perfect, and by all his treasures he would do whatever necessary to force her to be so, including freezing her in time and then hitting her as much as he wanted. Allianora would grow up to forget most of these events, both as aftereffects of the watch's magic and her own trauma coping mechanism blocking out those memories.   It became his own undoing, when Allianora one day picked up knife, took some time pointing it at herself, and then snuck behind him and stabbed the pocketwatch. The knife went clean through, breaking the glass and casing, and one of the arms fell off as well. The residual release of magic and energy froze Ope completely, and Allianora took her sweet time slicing his throat and cutting out the pocketwatch from his frozen pocket. Broken, the watch could no longer freeze time universally, and instead, pressing the button caused it to create a small localized point in space with frozen time. Allianora kept it and uses it as a time grenade, freezing individual marks, and while also reminding her of what little she remembered of her childhood.
