Skalahalt

The village of Skalahalt sits along the rocky eastern coast of the Isle of Llywelyn, where the harsh ocean winds whip against the sturdy wooden buildings. A Northlander port village, Skalahalt thrives on the strength of its people, who are seasoned sailors, warriors, and traders. The village hugs the coastline, with a long, stone pier extending into the churning sea, where longships are moored, ready to set sail at a moment's notice. The ocean to the east is both a lifeline and a constant threat, with its unpredictable storms and the occasional rumor of sea monsters or fey creatures lurking beneath the waves.   To the west of the village lies the ominous expanse of the Heathmoors, a wild and dangerous place overrun with feral lycanthropes. The villagers of Skalahalt are wary of the moors, often stationing guards along the western edge of the village to watch for the howls that sometimes echo across the landscape. The Kilconna Rise, a range of rugged mountains, looms to the south, separated from the village by a swift river. The villagers often look to the mountains for hunting and as a natural defense, but few venture beyond the river’s edge, as the mountains are said to be the domain of formorians and dangerous beasts.   Skalahalt is a village of resilience, where the people are shaped by the sea and the wild lands that surround them. The longhouse at the village center is a place of community, where feasts are held, and stories of battle and seafaring exploits are shared. The people of Skalahalt take pride in their Northlander heritage, following the old gods and honoring their ancestors with regular rituals and offerings. They are skilled shipbuilders, and their longships are renowned across the Moontide Isles for their speed and durability. Despite the constant dangers posed by the wild lands and seas, the people of Skalahalt remain steadfast, bound by their shared history and unshakable spirit.
