Daddy Dearest
Duke Hueck Greyhall had sent a typical message to Queen Finnea Mirabar, his liege and Queen of the Kingdom of Kildare in Caer Cenwynn. Unbeknownst to him, however, the message was delivered by Not-Levi, who was created by Boora Coven. Not-Levi switched the message delivered to one crafted by the hags.
The letter ended up being a confession by Duke Hueck in his actions as he had attempted to arrange a marriage of Tertius to Princess Ireltharis Alistair of the Kingdom of Louth, so that he could then have her mother, Queen Emeldawn Alistair, assassinated, giving him rulership of the Kingdom of Louth through his son's new position by marriage.
Upon receiving the writ, Queen Finnea had Duke Hueck placed under house arrest in Caer Cenwynn. In visiting his father to find out what had happened, his father told him the full story.
Hueck and Aoibhinn Greyhall-McGowan, Tertius' mother, had difficulty conceiving a child and so Hueck had asked the hags of the Boora Coven to "grant him a son that would one day take his place." And, so Tertius was conceived and born.
In confronting his father about what had occurred, Hueck realized that with his arrest, Tertius had become Duke, thus his request to be granted a son that would one day take his place was fulfilled. Though Hueck said that he had always known that there would be a “catch” to the bargain with the hags, but he had always assumed that the catch was Tertius “being like he was”.
Hueck then told Tertius to be careful, Tertius' aunt would be quick eager to try to take advantage of the shift in power to claim the territory for her through her son, Garrison Harrington.
Tertius left his father arrested in Caer Cenwynn, taking his newfound title of Duke.
