An Inherited Debt

With the passing of Wendell Cuthbert Wallace, an old explorer from the mainland that had settled in the Moontide Isles, the Halfling, Reginald Mossstride, sent missives out to the various people that were named in Wendell's will, asking them to come to the Gentleman's League of Explorers and Adventurers to receive their inheritance. The messages went out and Levi Kilgore, Ilbryen Dorydark, Illevaere Solandra, Rieta, Tiarjead Faefyire, and Kaal all arrived to find out what exactly was inherited from a figure that each of them had met, but only in passing.   Letters written by Wendell were passed out to everyone, explaining their meeting and what Wendell saw in them. The letters were hardly flattering. However, Wendell believed that his adventuring guild should be left in the hands of adventurers to help restore it to its former glory.   As the reading of the will was completed, a representative from Duke Hueck Greyhall of nearby Eastbridge arrived to tell the party that the Guildhall owed back taxes to the Duke in excess of 2000 gold and, now that they were the owners of the guildhall, the debt was now theirs and payment was expected, or they would be jailed.   The party quickly took on a job to try to make money to pay off the debt, but it seemed as if the amount would require more time than they had to earn it. The Duke met with the party upon their return to Eastbridge and he introduced them to his son, Tertius Greyhall, a young man who had not grown to be the hardened man that he had wished. Since the guild had completed their first adventure, the Duke made a deal with them--he would forgive their debt, but in exchange they would take Tertius to the guildhall and train him and "make a man out of him".   With Tertius now a part of the guild, the debt was forgiven.
