Scope
The motivation behind building Modora
I want to build a unified world (or universe one day) that I can set all my, and hopefully my friends', campaigns in.
The goal of the project
Im hoping to give my players a congruent lore rich world that they enjoy playing in and want to run their own campaigns in
Modora's Unique Selling point
My world is split across multiple time periods allowing it to be explored again and again
Theme
Genre
My world is most generally a high fantasy setting. Depending on the area of the world it may stay to more themes, the most common of these being epic or dark fantasy
The level of technology varies depending on the time period, but for most periods a medieval technology level is accurate. Time periods around the rebirth are filled with Runepunk technologies where later time periods see renaisance technologies
Reader Experience
World is exciting to explore but that darkness lies at the corners and when left alone for too long evil rises
Reader Tone
My world lies towards the darker sides, with many areas falling heavily into the dark vibe
Recurring Themes
1. The ruins of the past dot the land with untold secrets to be discovered
2. Dark forces from beyond and within threaten to be released on the world
3. The divine watch us at all times, and we can ascribe to be like them, or become them
Character Agency
I want, as much as possible with varied time periods, to have the effects of previous campaigns influence and effect following campaigns
Focus
Religion: The core pantheon is known as the Ascendeon and no one can dispute their power and influence, but there are more religions than just that. While the Ascendeon retains its power through motes of divinity, minor dieties can become extremely powerful through the worship of man
Technology: The passing of knowledge from era to era is flawed and many times technology is lost and forget, leading to many "Dark Ages". In many eras, power is held by those with technology and magic
Large governmental bodies maintain order in the world through military, trade, and politics. This can shunt out smaller players, leaving them powerless. But when the large governments fail, they bring the world down with them
