Morixxyleth

Morixxyleth (a.k.a. Mourn)

Morixxyleth (a.k.a Mourn, Morix, Maekrix, Roewn, Shadow, Tighra)

(mohr-ihks'-ee-leth) is the only To'vah-krav in the entire Deepearth, once belonging to House Dar'Prohn of Vuthra'tern. He was born in the wilderness of The Deepearth and later brought to his Davrin family by his sire, the Black Dragon.

For a son of the Dark Elves, Mourn is massive, his size and strength surpassing anyone he knew by his fiftieth birthday. Mourn stands on average a head taller than the large male fighters of the Ma'ab with similar breadth in the shoulders. Most Dark Elves only reach chest-height to his adult form and appear slender by comparison.

He has the metallic gold eyes of his Draconic sire, the Elven ears of his mother, and dark coloring from both sides of his parentage, expressed in the straight, black hair which he grows long, and his body covered in a mix of hard-scale patches blending with smooth, more vulnerable skin.

With claws on his hands and feet, heel spurs on digitigrade legs, Mourn also has a long, prehensile tail with a smooth tip and a dorsal ridge of white spines which lie flat along his spine but can rise perpendicular. His teeth give the strong impression of a carnivore, but he will eat as many sources of sustenance as a bear.

Background

Morixxyleth was the result of an ambitious bargain made between the Black Dragon of the Deepearth and Miz’ri Dar’Prohn, the last Matron of her legendary House in Vuthra’tern.

Spoiler for Book 6, "The Mark of Gold" & Tales of Miurag #3: "The Dragonchild.

Miz’ri traded her younger sister, Izabal, to the To’vah with the understanding the two would produce a half-blood child to be surrendered to her, strengthening her bloodline and standing among the Council of Eight.

The Black Dragon fulfilled their agreement but took sixty years to do it. He arrived alone, carrying a large-boned, golden-eyed child just out of his toddler phase, and informed Miz’ri that her sister had died in childbirth.

Infuriated with the To’vah over the negligent loss of her only fertile sister after only one offspring, Miz’ri named the Dragonchild Tighrabalt Mal'rak Ilharess'Dalninil, a title which made the bearer responsible for keeping the memory of Izabal alive through constant reference to the void of her presence in his life.

Called Tighra for short, the To’vah-krav grew up in a similar slave-son position as the Sathoet Son of Miz’ri, trained in earnest defense of House Dar’Prohn and its Noble family. The functional difference between them was the demon-blood watching for assassins coming into their land while the Dragon-blood left to be that assassin for other Houses.

Between the barely-controlled half-bloods, the powerful worship of Braqth, and Miz’ri’s exemplary training among her House Guard, House Dar’Prohn remained cruel and powerful for long enough that it could only have fallen through events originating from within.

Current

Spoiler for references in Sister Seekers Books 7-8 & Tales of Miurag #3: "The Dragonchild."

Morixxyleth escaped Vuthra’tern amid fire, blood, and death, his slave name Tighra now as dead as his Matron-Aunt. Roaming the Deepearth alone for a time, he met a Shadow Drake named Graul, who adopted the name Maekrix for him. In time and together, the two dreamed of and journeyed toward the Surface.

Learning to survive an entirely new world came first, but Maekrix and Graul could not help but explore, soon exposed to many races, cultures, lands, and climates. Gradually, they earned new friendships and guidance with longer-lived companions such as the Tundar Dwarf Talov Baradum and the Naulor Elf Krithannia syl'Bahrfil. Together, they built the new Yungian conclave of Yong-wen and became the shadow foundation for the Guild of Augran.

Although his violent past is never far behind him, the Dragonchild retains the support he needs to seek alternate ways of understanding his confusing heritage through vivid dreams, strengthening magic, and the well-considered consequences of his chosen tasks and actions.

More is yet to be revealed about this To'vah-krav in Sister Seekers.
