Climate and weather
The Sturkian mountains have a normal climate. There is absolutely nothing weird about it. Except when, how the locals call it, the floodgates open. Whereas in most cultures, this saying has meaning regarding some type of liquid water, around these parts it has a slightly different meaning. It starts with a windstorm. A storm that rages along the twirling peaks of the mountains. The storm fades after a few (1 - 3) days. Then, the calm before the storm. Total silence. No wind, no rain. Just a clouded sky. A faint ringing could be heard, moments before all hell breaks loose. A hail of icy rain, mixed with hail and sometimes snow rages across the mountains. Not only that but loud thunder slams on every peak, one by one in a set order. After every peak has been struck with lightning, which takes two days, the storm stops. It stops as it begins, with a strange calmness and a faint ringing. After that, the weather proceeds as normal. This event happens a few times every year. When it precisely happens, no one can predict though.
People
Law and order
The people of the Sturkian mountains have a very particular punishment in their arsenal of executions, "Death by lightning". Prisoners who committed crimes against the gods are given this particular punishment. They will be tied to a pole on one of the mountain peaks, just before the floodgates open. Then they will be electrocuted as the lightning strikes the pole they are bound to. It is believed that the gods themselves smite the criminal down.
