Session 95 - Sept 2, 2021 Report
General Summary
1305 - 2nd Moon of Summer (Ruavan) 13th Day
- The party finishes dinner with Miro, Gregory, and Lady Marisha.
- All of the party goes to the dissection at the university, where Roth and Alethra recognize most of the attending people in the room.
- Those attending, Mage Mallary and Archdruid Marisha, then druids Tristian and Ivar and Librarian Julia. Magmabrew is also in attendance with the illustration specialist Lise. There are two people are are unknow to the party, Ester Auber a human female divination wizard and Martha Verte, the specialist on the Outer Realms.
- Gregory and Miro start out explaining what happened from their knowledge and the party add in their experiences. The outer realms specialist then took over explaining what she knows and letting the party fill in details. The language which Roth and Ari were able to speak to the beholder is called Deep Speech, and Roth is interested in possibly learning it.
- The party then tells about the small rock monsters and the body switch elements of the fight. There is some discussion on the reason why the beholder was there, what it wanted and if the magic in our world is different from in the outer realms.
- Much discussion on the anti-magical eye and how the range or the spell/affect works.
- The actual dissection then begins with all the eyes being each stored in a jar, and the blood is purple. There is some confusion of it the creature eats, as it has a mouth and the breathing issue, as well as what the internal organs are for.
- During the entire time, Merry is playing eerie music on her pipe throughout and the group is asked questions by various attending magical university staff. Magmabrew will invite the party to dinner later to hear about the fight in more detail.
- Miro is pleased the music and Merry then uses the pipes of haunting, and only 3 people fail, the illustrator Lise, Magmabrew, and Martha the beholder specialist. No one attacks, they just leave the room.
- Gregory returns with the party and they all rest. Miro does not return with the party.
- The next morning at breakfast Gregory offers a reward of the clone spell being cast on 3 of the 4 party members who do not yet have clone in process. They are told that it is 3000 g of materials and then Gregory will cast the spell and it will take 4 months to take full effect. There is also a small piece of flesh needed.
- Ari is interested in the clone spell, and is excited to find the owl bear.
- Alethra and Merry are unsure about if they are ethical acceptable for their belief systems, and both will get back to Gregory at a later date.
- While this conversation is happening Olly becomes visible and holds the ring of spell storing up to Gregory and asks for another fireball in the ring. As Gregory does not understand, Roth translates and Gregory casts the spell into the ring. Roth suggests Olly try Sylvan which Merry and Roth hear Olly thanking Gregory and curls up on his shoulder for a moment. Olly then flies back to sit with Roth, happy with her fireball.
- Roth fills in Gregory on the damage that Olly managed to do with the ring, and Gregory is very impressed, if slightly confused.
- After the meal, Gregory bids good bye to Judith and tells Alethra and Merry if they would like something instead of the clone spell, to let him know. Roth asks if he can send Gregory a message later with his thoughts and what he is looking for.
- Ari then realizes that the bracelet of Death Ward is due back to her mother, and she casts a teleportation circle and goes to Melathas.
