Session 94 - August 19, 2021 Report
General Summary
1305 - 2nd Moon of Summer (Ruavan) 13th Day
- The many eyed monster (beholder), and Olly is visible, Roth is now an elf and Merry tries to magic the beholder, only to fail.
- There are 4 rounds of combat, and each has a layer action. First round, Alethra and Roth use bows to shoot at the beholder, with 3 beams, each one hitting Alethra, Roth and Ari, Roth speaks beholder, Ari passes and Alethra is exhausted.
- Ari flies up, now that magic is working. Alethra and Olly fireball the beholder, Roth shoots a fire arrow, and Ari is able to blind the beholder. At the end of the second round, small little rock elements appear and are charmed by Merry playing the pipes.
- Since Ari is the only one in the beholder's blindsight, she is frightened, charmed, and restrained.
- Roth then gets hit by 1 small rock creature, and drops Hex on the beholder.
- Roth is then able to roll a nat 20 on the anti magical eye stock, which now blinks closed, allowing the use of magic again. Most people are fine due to very high save rolls, though Alethra, Roth and Merry all have 1 level of exhaustion and Ari is very be-spelled.
- End of the fight, Alethra and Roth swap bodies, with Alethra's body under Roth's control making the killing arrow shot. Everyone is thrilled.
- Ari flies Merry up and unpetrified the wizard, whom the party recognized by the small jade ring on his finger.
- After some confusion and a very confused Olly, Hishi Mirosami introduces himself, and casts Dispell Magic on Roth with Ari casts it on Alethra, so they swap back bodies. Alethra is still 2 levels of exhaustion and headache from the double vision. Message is sent to Gregory, who gets french toast ready.
- The party goes back to Gregory's tower, gets Gregory and heads back to Miro's tower to examine the body and explore the tower. Miro gives each party member 500 gold, and the offer of a favor to do divination or research on anything they are curious about.
- Gregory is thrilled to see Miro and that everyone is safe, Miro opens the door to the resting room and the party has drinks and a snack while Miro begins to rebuild the tower's stairs. Ari summons Beserkers, who fetch, carry and put away what they can and do heavy lifting with Miro and Ari drinking mimosas and supervising. Gregory and Roth help put the library back together, and a few rooms are now in functioning order. Merry is resting and Alethra takes a nap.
- At lunch, the party plans to return to Benroth for dinner and after that a dissection of the creature at the Magical University. The rest of the afternoon is spent helping to tidy up and Ari suggests the Miro give her the magical circle symbols so that they can stop by and help whenever they are needed.
- The party then minimizes the beholder, teleports to Lady Marisha's garden and the specimen is taken away for later, with Lady Marisha, Gregory and Miro joining the party at home for dinner of roast duck.
- Lady Marisha casts lesser restoration on Alethra, curing 1 point of her exhaustion.
- Ari and Miro are drunk, Miro shows an immovable rod and thinks teiflings cannot get hangovers. Olly is shown to Judith, and Olly gets her own little plate at dinner. Lady Marisha and Gregory bring flowers to Judith.
- Olly is turned into a lizard by Merry, and then the doll is animated to create an interesting distraction at dinner. Doll then takes a butter knife and guards the table. The roast duck was delicious.
- Alethra, Lady Marisha, Roth, Miro and Gregory talk about divination magic and scrying spells, as well as how best to ward against it, as well as other topics he is researching.
- The party talks about the various effects of the rays, including that it allowed them to speak the language of the creature, and that it was researching the magic of this plane.
- After dinner, Alethra, Roth and Ari joined Gregory, Miro and Lady Marisha in the return to the university to the dissection, with Merry staying home.
