Session 91 - July 8, 2021 Report

General Summary

1305 - 2nd Moon of Summer (Ruanae) 10th Day
  • Gregory tells the group 335ish years between the last time he say Hishi Mirosami. Mirosami is a half human, half halfling (halfling live 200-250 years). With magical aid it would not be uncommon for him to still be alive.
  • Gregory got a message saying "Help, Saltmarsh, Help, it's getting through." Saltmash is his tower at the outer edge of the Bay of Songs. He specializes in Divination Magic.
  • Gregory casts Fireball into the ring of spell storing and goes to try and find Roth a fishing poll to take on the boat.
  • Gregory is pretty sure the tower is warded from transportation magic and he does not have the knowledge of his teleportation circle to transport directly. Should be 2-4 days by boat, roughly north east.
  • Gregory gives the party a small sack of fruits and vegetables to take on the trip, to help make the journey more pleasant.
  • When asked to describe him, Mirosami is a short man, 4'8", blue eyes, jade ring (pinky finger) olive skintone.
  • The party talks about options for how to cook on the boat, and Roth shows Gregory the folding boat. Gregory will message to see how the progress goes, and casts a wind spell to help power the boat away from the island.
  • Roth teaches Alethra how to steer the boat and take care of the sails. Roth attempts to fish while Olly sits a top the mask, and Alethra and Roth work on Draconic.
  • Merry watches out for dolphins and sees a pod late afternoon.
  • Good weather holds all day with a fair wind.
  • Olly starts singing sea shanties in Draconic, and Roth is confused how she learned them. She tells him about a big shiny boat where people with tails sang the songs.
  • Roth does not catch any fish, but Olly does catch a nice one.
  • Watch is Merry, Alethra, then Roth. Roth does not see anything of note, but thinks it will rain the next day.
1305 - 2nd Moon of Summer (Rubrar) 11th Day
  • The next day, cloudy morning, very little wind and light rain after lunch.
  • Roth catches a few fish, which the party makes into stew for dinner.
  • Ari turns into a Giant Whale (in rainbow colors) and pulls the boat for 2 hours, improving the time they made in the journey.
  • Roth later afternoon sees what he thinks is land in the north east, and Olly gives Alethra a fish to help her study. It goes back into the bag of colding.
  • Watches. Merry, Alethra and Roth. During Merry's watch Ari sneaks into the water and turns into a shiny dolphin, whom Merry thinks is the god dolphin. She tosses it a coin, but does not wake anyone up. Ari rolls very low to get back onto the boat, and Merry sees you get back in the boat. There is more shenanigans.
  • Alethra sees a very small octopus on her watch, which on Roth's watch Olly tries to play with, not successfully.
1305 - 2nd Moon of Summer (Ruaoth) 12th Day
  • At dawn the party sees some islands, and around lunch they see an island with a tall tower.
  • Dunes frame a beach leading up to the tower, a tall stone building with a large wooden door. The taller side of the island closer to the tower have sheer cliffs to try and climb up.
  • The party takes the boat and circle around the island, arriving about 4 pm. The tower is on the highest point of the island, with a slopping incline. There is a small dock on the sandy dunes side, but it is older and does not seem to be used often.
  • The party decides to avoid the dock, and land on the beach. The boat is shrunk down 1 size so that it is easy to beach, and the party get a little damp on their legs/feet. After the party is ashore, the boat is folded up and back into the back of holding. Ari summons a rat from her bag to run ahead and test for traps. It does not seem to ever trigger a trap.
  • The party heads straight up the island across the dunes towards the tower. The 100 ft squares are some magically warded and some not.
  • The first square has 16 giant crabs made of sand, which were easily dispatched by the party, with 2 being turned to glass by Ari's lightening cantrips. Alethra then makes a smaller version and Ari hits it with lightening to make it glass as well.
  • The next square is not guarded.
  • The 3rd summons 10 turtle people with quarterstaffs, which the party is able to dispatch. Ari turns two into glass, but they are medium creatures and do not fit in the bag of holding.
  • The party tries to stealth and more quietly and slowly to avoid traps.
  • The 4th and 5th squares do not have any traps or wards.
  • The 6th has giant crabs again, but only 6 this time, and the party is able to easily make it across. Only 1 is turned into glass.
  • After all these traps the party is about 300 ft from the grassland and they realize that the stealth and rat are not helping them to check for traps, so Ari summons a boar to run ahead, towards the grass on about 170 ft from the grasses, more tortles of sand are summoned. The fight is mostly centered on the boar and with ranged arrows and spells, the 14 turtle people are taken out, none are turned to glass in this round.
  • Alethra and Roth realize the pattern, with two squares of traps/wards being next to each other seeming to be unlikely, the party just cross the last square of 100 ft to the grasses with no issue.
  • They all reach the low grasses which make up the upper half of the island. It is around 4:30 pm, and they traveled 800 ft from the shoreline.
