Session 90 - June 17, 2021 Report
General Summary
1305 - 2nd Moon of Summer (Duash) 3rd Day
- Ari had a bit to drink while celebrating the night before, but is able to hide the hangover the next day.
- At brunch, Judith sets extra plates, with Arannis and Merlen the bookkeeping gnome arriving around 10:30 in the morning. After confirming that Alethra's copy of the dragon notes are unable to be read via a spell, Alethra can keep her book, and the book in common is copied twice, once for Arannis and once for Marisha. The original is to be gift to the Magical University Librarian, Julia, who will keep it in the restricted section.
- While Merlen copies the books, Arannis asks the party what they are looking for. Ari asks for access to the University's magical circle (Arannis will fast track her application) and Alethra wants full access to the library (Arannis sponsors her application). Roth and Merry are unsure and want to think about their requests, getting back to him at a later date. Ari also asks that a song she composed be considered for performance at the court's winter opening.
- Everyone had a lovely time and enjoyed the brunch. After eating, Merlen joins them for a tasting of the beer's in the new brewery that Roth is investing in. They all agree it is a very nice selection of beer. Arannis suggested that Julia at the library really enjoys lavender Earle gray tea, which Alethra makes a note of.
- As Merlen is ready to leave, Merry asks about getting other items copied, to which Merlen replies that he is unable to create new copies of people or animals. He can recreate the button that Merry requested the next day in the morning.
- Alethra gets the herbs to create the tea blend that Arannis said Julia favors add it to a pretty tin and then goes with Roth to present and tea and book to Julia. She is delighted and enjoys the stories they can tell her.
- After returning home Roth gets a note about signing legal paperwork the next day at the house for his two investments.
- Ari and Alethra go to the Opal Moon and Ari gets her "commission" (70g) on boot buckles, while Alethra orders a necklace and earrings of the dragon scale, jade and silver, it will be done in a few weeks (80g). They show Veronika the illusion mirror, and agree to rent it to her for a month for 4 gold, with the option to change or update the deal after the 1st month to see if the sales increase.
- Ari sends out notes about scheduling dance lessons (3 responses, it is 3 gold per person an hour). Her mother messages her asking for the bracelet back, which Ari will do in the next few weeks.
- Merry goes out and visit's Korfel, paying 7000 gold for her special box, which will be ready in the 3rd month of Fall, hopefully around the 2nd week. He will keep her updated if there are any problems or timeline changes.
- Quiet night at home and long rest
- Merry gets up before everyone else, casts Tiny Servant and now has a mushroom guard with shield, pike, and small acorn hat. It will also put bugs on pikes as it catches them "invading"
- Merlen arrives around 9 am and Merry 6 buttons made, now totaling 7 giant buttons, for a total of 60 gold. She takes all the button up to her room for "plans later."
- Judith sees the new mushroom guard, and asks Alethra to investigate. She rolls very poorly and is unsure. She then asks Merlen to see about books on magical effects or illnesses that can affect mushrooms. She is very confused.
- Upon hearing that, Ari goes downstairs and casts a programmed illusion, for a platoon of mushrooms to now appear in formation in the room. Chaos ensues.
- At 3 pm Roth meets his legal contact, Soren Larkenson, who draws up the paperwork for the brewery. Roth meets Elise and Harper, two cousins in their mid/late 40's or 50's who are running the brewery. They are all delighted to hear that the court ArchMage tried the beer and they will be talking about that for a week!! At Roth's suggestion they name the brewery The Rookery.
- After Elise and Harper left, Roth signed the paperwork for the next venture, without any names, only an address. Soren is happy to go as a messenger between the manager and Roth if needed.
- Judith goes down to view the inventory and sees the platoon of mushrooms, is worried, gets Ari and Alethra, who go down and only see the 1 mushroom and then more chaos. Jess the cat has learned to not enter the mushroom room ever. Judith takes the afternoon off to day drink on the patio and will order take out for dinner.
- Before dinner, Roberta, who works at a green grocery nearby stops by to see Alethra and give her a small tomato plant and aske her to go on a walk after dinner. Ari tell Alethra to invite her for dinner, where they have a delightful science and botany conversation. Judith got little meat pies for dinner and brownies.
- Alethra and Roberta go on a walk after dinner, Ari waits by the window for their return. Roberta tries to hold Alethra's hand during the walk and awkwardness happens, with Alethra being very confused about what happened.
- After Alethra returns, Ari and Judith give her some relationship advice, telling her to take it slow and just see how she feels, as they did not really date in the monastery.
- Roth snuck out during that conversation, going out for an evening of drink and "entertainment."
- Alethra and Ari accompany Judith to the basement to make sure it is safe for her to sleep there. After some checking, Alethra discovers the platoon of mushrooms is an illusion. The mushroom with a hat is no long walking around with arms and legs. Ari sets up a goat to guard the mushroom door just in case, but forgot to tell it to ignore the cat, Jesse.
- 2 am is a very loud hour, with the goat seeing the cat, making an alarm, waking up Judith, and causing much concern. After they realize the goat set off the alarm for the cat, Judith slept in Scarlett's room for the night, and the goat was sent back on guard duty, while told to not get the alarm for the cat.
- Merry get up very early, disguise self to look like a human, and goes to the green grocery that Roberta works out. Cast Tiny Servant on 3 Portobello mushrooms, who are told to wait an hour, then organize the produce around the store and wave whenever someone enters/exits.
- Merry returns back to the house, returns to her true form, and has some breakfast while everyone else wakes up.
- Roberta shows up to the house to ask for Alethra's help. After Alethra confirmed the same issue happened with these mushrooms, she went to get Merlen (so he can see the issue and find a book) and Tristen, a middle level druid at the university.
- When the 4 return to the store, all the mushrooms wave and then go back to organizing the strawberries. Tristen confirms it is not a magical problem or disease, but a spell, Tiny Servant, which will last 8 hours then the mushrooms will return to normal. Tristen then returns to the university to teach, and Merlen buys a mushroom to take back and see what happens with it. Roberta thanks Alethra for her help, and hopes they can start being friends, and maybe have dinner later.
- When Alethra returns home, Ari has crafted a rainbow illusion to appear over the front of the house when someone walks by, it sparkles. Judith is very amused.
- Ari sends a message to Master Olahome, asking her to upgrade Merry's armor to +2, and sends the 3000 gold to her via Arannis. The only design element is to add a small rainbow on the inside collar.
- Alethra receives her updated library card to the magical university and places it in a safe spot.
- Roth spends the afternoon at Magmabrew's helping where he can and working to see where he can speed up magical creation of his mini mansion.
- Ari gets the rules and access to the University Magic Circle, Roth helps Magamabrew, Alethra studies Draconic at the University, Merry relaxes.

- Later in the evening Roth receives a message from Gregory, asking the party to come to the Tower the next morning with food and water, possibly needing a boat, and that he needs help with a task.
- Ari then sends back a message, learning about a former student who is in trouble and Gregory is calling on the party to help resolve the issue.
- Judith starts packing up dried meats, some bread, and dried fruits. There are rations for 5 days for all 4 of you, in Roth's bag of holding with the cold stone.
- The party goes to Korfel's to ask about another jug which magically creates water, but he does not have any in stock. He will let the party know if he comes across one and will hold it for them to purchase.
- They party then gives Judith 200 gold to buy a sending stone to use to contact the party in cast of emergencies and pay her for an additional 4 months of housekeeping.
- Judith is delighted and runs off to buy a sending stone from Korfel.
- The party arrives in Gregory's tower. They are let in and told what happened. Yesterday Gregory got a sending from a former student who was able to get out the words "Help, Saltmarsh, Help, it's getting through." The student practices divination magic, and Saltmarsh is the name of his tower. Gregory attempted to cast sending to him several times, but did not receive a response.
