Session 89 - June 3, 2021 Report
General Summary
1305 - 2nd Moon of Summer (Lafali) 1st Day
- Roth delivers the final blow to the dragon, then runs towards the main buildings, sending Olly to check on Merry in the small hut.
- Olly flies over and feeds Merry a healing potion, bringing her back to consciousness.
- Alethra then runs into the building to check on Roth and see if the building would hold up. Ari then casts a healing spell which brings Merry up to more health.
- Merry then pops out of the small building, and casts dimensions doors to go up to the top the roof to check on the dragon.
- Roth uses his wand of detect magic to find all the magical items, and moves them with his bow to 1 central area. Ari and Alethra head up to the roof to check on the dragon with Merry. Ari casts a sphere of wind/lightening and Alethra casts firebolt. The dragon is definitely dead.
- Roth uses Mage hand to gather the magical items, a mirror, a belt, a wand, horn and a ring. Roth, Ari and Alethra then quickly gather all the coins they can into their bags of holding.
- Roth goes to cast a sending to Arannis, the court wizard while the other 3 get down 3 large floral tapestries. Arannis will arrive in about 20 mins with Lady Marisha, and many materials.
- Rest of the bodies are searched. Ari and Alethra search 1 kobold caster, finding 2 sp, pouch of herbs. Roth loots a magical shield from a kobold fighter (was Baeshra's). Merry recovers 4 cp, 2 slings, dagger from hut of kobolds with shatter/silence. Roth checks final kobold specialist, finds nothing notable. Alethra recovers some slings, dried flowers, 3 sp from cluster of kobolds outside a hut. All the kobolds hit by fireball were ash, along with all their items.
- Arannis, Marisha arrive via a teleport spell with equipment needed to make notes. This is about lunch time.
- The Dragon is reduced in size, moved to where Marisha can measure and make notations on the animal, as well as anything they can observe.
- Roth cleans up the roof where the dragon fell, creating a sizable pile of scales, to make sure nothing it left behind of the dragon other than acid.
- Marisha/Arannis dissect dragon, with Alethra observing/recording in a special notebook. Marisha heals Merry a bit while she takes a short break.
- Alethra asks about disposal of corpse, and Lady Marisha mentions getting Master Olaholme (a master craftsperson of magical creatures) to harvest materials,
- Alethra gathers brush to cover dragon, create pyre. Lady Marisha casts Wall of Stone, creating an alcove to cover the body from above and one 3 sides from the elements.
- Party teleports via tree back to Benroth, with Arannis agreeing to get Master Olahome and all meeting up at 10 am tomorrow in Lady Marisha's tree. Marisha gives goodberries to Merry before they leave. Getting the tapestries through the tree was a bit complicated and required a few reduce spells.
- Party heads home for dinner. Judith makes fried chicken with all the fixing and hands out beer, one amber and one dark stout. Judith says the two ladies asked for Roth, and left him the beer and a note. Elise Garvin & Harper Journeyman are happy to partner with him and would like to meet him in the next week or so.
- The three large Tapestries go into reading room on the 3rd floor and the group sort out/identify looted eqpt. The total gold per person is 8,500 per person. The Staff of Fireball went to Alethra, the Horn of Blasting went to Ari, the Belt of Darvenkind went to Merry, and Roth got the Wand of Secret. The +2 ring and +1 shield were put aside.
- Roth suggested to the group that they track down The Tamer to get a guard Owl Bear, which they use use magic to make intelligent and then use of hat to disguise in town. Ari is unsure, and Alethra and Merry think it is a great idea.
- The party asks Judith for food to take with them the next day and long rests.
- The next day at 10 am in Lady Marisha's garden, the party meet Master Olaholme, a tall elvish woman with graying hair and a set of leather armor that looks very simple until getting closer, where the work is incredibly intricately crafted. They all head to dragon clearing through a tree.
- Olaholme harvests from dragon, using very magical gloves to protect her hands and arms. After discusssion, she is willing to make some base items for the party for the use of the rest of the materials, but can upgrade a few for an additional cost.
- The Party orders 3 sets of studded leather armor with acid resistance (Merry's set is +1, Ari and Roth each pay 3000 gold to upgrade to +2) Roth gets a +2 1 longbow, 2 short bows for Ari and Alethra, each +2, and all 3 bows do additional acid damage. Each bow cost an additional 1000 gold. Roth asks to visit her workshop at a later date to observe the craftspeople at work.
- Ari takes 3 lb hunk of meat, Roth takes 2 lb cut and talon, They may try to cook or dry the meat at some point, but the acidity in the meat may be harmful when eaten.
- Alethra gets some scale pieces from Olaholme to make jewelry, perhaps a nice necklace, as the small black pieces have a colorful almost obsidian sheen to them.
- Arannis gets back the teleport scroll, long bow and 3 alchemist fire jars. He was pleased that everyone was able to survive the fight so well.
- The party gathers brush around the dragon body, and use fireball to make sure the remains all burn. Lady Marisha then casts a plant growth spell to make the swamp take over the area. They all stay until the fire is done and put out.
- Lady Marisha takes the party heads via tree.
- Master Olaholme thinks it will take 6 ish months to complete the items, with Arannis able to bring her to Benroth if further consult is needed.
- The party returns home and Alethra adds a forward to the book relating the particulars of the dragon fight. The back pages have the dissection notes. Roth suggests donating Alethra's notebook to the library.
- Arannis said he would be by the next day to get copies of the book Alethra had made to the discuss the rest of their business. The group chats about what they will ask for.
- Long rest, party is Level 11.
