Session 81 - February 4, 2021 Report

General Summary

1305 - 1st Moon of Summer (Ruanae) 10th Day
  • After bed, Ari and Roth attempt to discover more about the spell, "Passage" on the clan stone. Roth is able to discern it is a very high level spell and involves many layers of casting.
  • Roth is unable to identify the type of stone used, so he asks Alethra, who is also perplexed, but is aware it is not marble. The stone is very light for the size and shape it is. Roth then memorizes the stone so that he can recreate a copy of it with minor illusion. Ari helps where she can.
1305 - 1st Moon of Summer (Ruanae) 11th Day
  • The party wakes up and goes to the front entrance of the mine, where 4 dwarves in coveralls and helmets show up to certify the mine is safe and ready to re-open. It takes most of the day to go through the mine, making notes, creating new wall where creatures had broken through.
  • One of the miners is able to cast Stone Shape, which both Ari and Alethra are interested in learning. Once the party reaches the 3rd level down, the miners are told about the Ropers, and Roth is able to cast minor illusion to illustrate their appearance as well as bringing out one of the large tentacles. The dwarves are look very scared and make sure to seal off the upper entrance at the narrow point that the party had already collapsed.
  • The dwarves presented Magmabrew a bill, and after seeing Ari fly, Merry convinces the dwarves that all tieflings can fly and that there was an invisible tiefling watching over the party at all times. Merry and Ari then go invisible on the way back to the mine entrance to mess with the dwarves, playing music invisible as the camp is set up for the night.
  • The party is told a boat will be by for them mid-morning to go back to the city to return the remains. Magmabrew and Roth discuss what is further down the river, with much of the farming of crops and animals done outside the city on the main river route. Since the river is not very fast moving, travel can go both up and down the river. The river eventually leaves the mountain or goes down a giant waterfall.
  • The party then rests for the night in the mini-mansion.
1305 - 1st Moon of Summer (Ruaoth) 12th Day
  • The party awakens, and since the mine was cleared, all 4 dwarves are now surveying the mine to determine where to dig and which areas need to be further investigated. The actual miners will be sent later on to do the digging.
  • The party takes the 4 ish hour boat ride up the river to the main staircase down from Blazenthrone.
  • The keep of names marks their entrance in the book, and then leads them to the visitors quarter. After lunch at The Tavern in the Sky, the party goes to meet the cleric, Yaldruit Lightforge, who is a worshipper of the Dwarven god of Creation/Crafting, Moradin. The party meets Jolmin Horncrester, who is there to put the bones of the dwarf they found to rest. Roth removes the bones and clan stone from the bag of holding, and the cleric and clan member ceremonially place the bones in a wooden box with the name "Eriman Horncrester", the clan symbol, and presumably the birth and death dates. As the last bone is placed in the box, the ghost reappears in the chapel, thanks the party for laying him to rest, and then disappear. Magamabrew is much happier with this kind of ghost.
  • Roth then asks the god or goddes of death in the dwarven pantheon, and while only having a small following, the clerics of that Dumathoin, god of the underworld, tend to take care of funerals and burials, as well as taking dwarves to the afterlife. Roth creates a small minor illusion of the alter he found on Brell, and the cleric is surprised and the iconography being ancient.
  • The party and Magmabrew then head out the city via and main cavern, with Roth leaving an invisible Olly there. The party goes to a tavern, rents a small private dining room, and Magmabrew draws the teleportation circle to get the party back to her study. Li is unhappy with the means of travel, but the party get back very quickly.
  • Now that they are back in Benroth, Magmabrew pays the party the additional 2040 gold a person she owes them, and hearing of the new teifling treat "Deviled Eggs", she sends a message to Judith to prepare them, and the party goes back to the house.
  • Roth then summons Olly back to him, explaining that they just practiced for a smuggling heist and Olly is very excited to try the real heist soon.
  • Alethra asks Li what happens now that the adventure is over. Li says usually rest for a few days then go look for a new adventure. Roth invites the two of them back to the house for dinner, and to spend the night. Judith has deviled or "Tiefling" eggs ready when the party arrives back. Neither Magmabrew or Alethra is a fan of them, but Li loves them as much as Ari, and they race to eat any extras.
  • Over dinner and drinks (Magmabrew, Li and Alethra stay) Ari and Merry convince Judith and Alethra that tieflings lay eggs and are immune to hangovers. Ari has quite the pile of correspondence to catch up on, while both Roth and Merry have 1 letter. After dinner, Judith shows the sea water fountain Scarlett had set up to her deity now has coral growing in it. Judith is concerned that Scarlett did not return with the party. Merry summons Gertrude and Magmabrew is delighted with the elephant. Li, Alethra, and Ari all take turns play on and sketching the creature, eventually, Magmabrew calls it a night, leaving the mansion to the party.
  • Judith asks the party if they are all right with her receiving a caller, and they are all fine with it. Li and Alethra go to read/write and chat with Roth for a bit.
  • Ari goes to her room and writes a bunch of notes to reply to the ones she received. She also drinks 1 and a half bottles of wine and the last one quarter of her letters may or may not be legible the next day.
  • Merry goes out to play, getting 5 silver and reads the note on her return to the house, realizing it is from her Grandmother, and the rubies were accepted as an offering and she is free of being hunted by the guild. Merry also gets a sending from Scarlett letting her know she is fine and on the turtle. Merry is happy about the news from her grandmother and lets everyone know Scarlett is fine. She then drinks half of Ari's second bottle of wine and goes to sleep.
  • Alethra is given the details by Roth of when and where to go to get her tattoo (Wandering Waves, 25th after dusk) and Li was considering getting one as well. Roth then retired to his room, and Alethra went looking in the library for a book, go distracted by a murder mystery, and slept in the 3rd floor common room. Li went to bed which Alethra was half-way through the book.
  • Roth's letter is from the Court Wizard, asking Roth to drop by for tea and a brief visit at his convenience.
  • Roth then takes a late night visit to the temple of the Raven Queen, seeing Katrina for a night cap. Branwen is delighted to see her, and Roth told her of all the creatures they fought and the ghost/banshee fight. Roth makes arrangements to have the items found around the banshee and ghosts cleansed, which will happen on the 16th. Roth confirmed that nothing is in need of attention now and most things have been quiet. Roth is glad things have been well, and they will have a longer chat when he returns. Katrina then tells Roth to work the magic needed to recreate him, she would probably need a full arm. She can likely re-grow the arm, but does not want to have to cut off his arm. Roth is glad to have an answer, and let's Katrina know there are other people working on the problem. Roth then returns to the house to sleep.
1305 - 1st Moon of Summer (Ruavan) 13th Day
  • Party wakes up and is now level 10.
  • Li goes early the next morning to check at the adventures guild for jobs. He has a pressing job waiting, so he sends back a note for Alethra saying He was sorry he had to go, and he would be back as soon as he could. Li sent a note to Roth asking him to look out for Alethra.
  • Alethra is sad at the loss of her friend, and Ari distracts her with a ballet/dance lesson in place of the usual Alethra/Li sparing section.
  • The party has a quiche for breakfast, with Merry going on a nature walk (scouting trees) and Alethra, Roth, and Ari going to Korfel's The Voodoo Doll to look at magical items. The party will meet back at the house after lunch to go sell parts at the adventures guild.
  • Roth collects his Sending Stone and Amulet of Health, as well as buying 2 healing potions.
  • Alethra buys a normal bag of holding, 3 healing potions, and considers some of the spell scrolls.
  • Ari considers the various spell scrolls and possibly one of the Horns of Vahalla hanging on the wall.
