Session 79 - Jan 7, 2020 Report
General Summary
1305 - 1st Moon of Summer (Lamlar) 8th Day
- One cloaker is dead on the ground and the party takes the moment of rest to cast a few healing spells and get into position.
- Roth hears the sound of creatures inbound and the party gets ready for another attack. Merry throw her last fire sphere, causing the cave to be in total darkness.
- Roth hides back in his ball of darkness
- 4 cloakers fly in, 3 are illusionary and Ari is flying near the entrance to the cave, and the 3 illusions are dispelled until the last cloaker attaches to Merry. Li is able to remove the cloaker from Merry's grip (after Merry some shared damage) and Roth kills the cloaker.
- The second cloaker attacks and attaches to Ari, who is in the air. Merry tries to cast a spell which will the cloaker to flee, and the cloaker flies away with Ari. Then Ari casts Dimension Door, teleporting to inside the sphere of darkness.
- The party then agrees to short rest, Merry cast the Tiny Hut and after an hour, many hit dice are rolled and the party is in a better health place.
- After the rest, Roth is able to skin 1 cloaker for the full hide, and get 2 eyeballs and 4 incisors with Alethra's help. The second cloaker the party was able to get 2/3 of the hide, 1 eyeball and 1 incisor.
- Roth then sends Olly up to look into the tunnel, seeing 20 ft feet of tunnel that then turned to the left. Olly reports back to Roth, who tells her to look down the tunnel, where she sees 40ft and then the tunnel splits into 3.
- Roth and the party discuss if they will explore further and how to prevent creatures entering the cleared area of the mines.
- Magmabrew messages Roth asking about dinner. Roth and party agree to leave Olly and Ari's Owl to watch the cavern while the party rests in the mini mansion. After dinner, Ari identifies the magical items. Alethra gets the circlet, Ari keeps the staff, Merry gets a scroll, and Magmabrew buys the last scroll. Magmabrew is told about the remains of a Dwarf that the party found, and the various monsters that were killed. The updates to the map were shown via Minor Illusion. Roth and Ari attempt to research a clan stone with hopes to be able to recreate, they see the dwarven spell Passage, which allows entrance to warded doors.
- Olly attempts to get the owl to go fishing. The owl does not comply.
- The next morning the whole party goes down to the large cave on the 3rd level of the mine. Olly confirms nothing got past her in the night, and the owl went poof. Olly was not at fault. The party avoids the trigger for the wall trap, which Magmabrew will research while the tunnels/caves are being explored.
- She sets up the tiny hut in such a way to block off the entrance to the mines. The water is explored, with no treasure being found, and the out flow to the river seems to be under the water level.
- Ari and Roth fly up to the entrance, Alethra goes monk climb, Merry catches a ride from Ari and Li uses the rope that Roth threw down, using his gloves to make sure the rope was secured. The tunnel was about 15 ft round, and natural with no worked sections.
- The party gets to the split of 3 tunnels. Olly is up the tunnel, as Alethra wonders if it connects to the Nothic's cave system. Olly notices the tunnel getting much smaller after 5-10 mins, then gets just missed by a Dark Mantle. She gets poofed back to the party. The tunnel to the left goes for 15 mins then splits. The left tunnels ends in a large natural cavern with a bat on the ceiling. Olly backtracks and goes right, finding a long smooth tunnel, similar to a dried underground river. There is no end in sight to this tunnel after another 15-20 min flight. Olly then returns.
- The party goes the right tunnel, walking for about 10 mins, then the tunnel widens to 20 wide by 30 tall, and Roth sees what looks like blood from the cloaker. After another 5 mins, 4 dark mantles drop on the party, who are quickly killed.
