General Summary
1305 - 3rd Moon of Spring (Renlar) 23rd Day
- Ari is told to check at the Brass Cape about having her tail turned into a whip
- Ari, Alethrea, Li head out shopping with Boondiggles starting at the Ironclad Bowl - high end gift shop that includes dwarven clothes made for 'taller' people
- Ari/Alethra discuss clothing styles for dinner, noticing buttons seem a measure of rank/status, and a Dwarf, Helga, approaches the two and helps Alethra find a rust-colored dress, and Li also gets a dark gray set of dress clothes (both in wool).
- Ari buys a painting for 3gp of the main cavern with gold domed building.
- Alethra buys 4 notebooks (10 gold), pens/inks (10 gold), and the rust colored dress with alterations (15 gold), gives one notebook to Ari as they were buy 3 get 4th free. Li's suit costs 12 gold. They are to return around 7 pm to pick up the items for dinner that night.
- Group heads to the Brass Cape, a jewlery and fine weapons shop just around the corner.
- Ari asks about making the manticore tail into a whip; the shop attendant asks for someone else to assist with that and shows some amethyst jewelry to Ari. It is a set of necklace, earrings, and shoe buckles.
- Alethra looks at the weapons of the store, all very fine and highly decorate and intricate.
- Ari buys boot buckles of peridot and silver and uses a wand to cast 'detect magic' (and is seen by Orvina, one of the shop keeper's present). Ari views the weapons of the store which are mostly magical, as well as Boondiggles and Alethra.
- Alethra asks additional questions about books and is told to ask to see the Trollfrye clan and she views a bag of holding, which is 650 gold. She then buys the puzzle book for 10 gold.
- Meanwhile back at the inn Merry sharpens a copper to give to the pixie and Roth briefly summons Ollie, has her leave her equipment with him, then sends her to petspace.
- Ari, Li and Alethra head back to the inn for drinks, 1 rounds of Magmabrew's clan's pale ale (Merry and Roth join) as Mage Magmabrew is asleep with a cup of tea when Alethra goes to check on her.
- Ari/gnome discuss dwarven burial rites, with her eventually showing the key to Boondiggle, but he is unaware of what it is beyond what the party already knows. Several people look at the puzzle book seeing various letters and words in many language, but are unable to figure out the pattern.
- At 7 pm Alethra/Li go to get their clothes, and then get dressed for a fancy dinner. Alethra borrows a necklace from Roth, but then returns it as Ari leans her an even fancier set of jewelry.
- The whole party head to dinner with Magmabrew (dressed in fine robe with tight sleeve adorned with jade buttons and a jade and silver clasp), Roth casts 'Disguise self' as he leaves the inn to dress up.
- The party head into the Lovely Axe, Roth and Ari notice that the party catches quite a bit of attention while they're in the restaurant.
- Those in the party that speak Dwarvish hear gossip about themselves, but no one has given away they speak dwarvish yet. There is family style dishes, spicy and non spicy versions, each course with a paired beer, and pastry for dessert with intricate chocolate pattern on top.
- Albrerich Thornheart, owner/chef of the Lovely Axe, greets/thanks the party and customers, seems to know Magmabrew and is pleased the dined with him. As he turns away, Roth notices his apron has untied itself and confirms it was not Olly.
- Walking back to the inn through a different route, Roth summons Olly into the residential cavern nearby. Mischief ensues. It is now full dark with no stars/moon light. She gets the lay of the land of the residential cavern. making notes of shops of interest and the guards at the cavern transition points. She sees bats and a cart selling fried mushrooms on a stick.
- Party enters the mansion at the top of the stairs, Magmabrew pays 4K gp to each party member that made the cross-land trek. She explains that she will transport everyone home after the week of meetings is over.
- Roth/Alethra discuss getting a tattoo to solve her problem of being bad at creating potions and suggests she keep 2500 gold for when they return to Benroth.
- Before retiring for the night, Alethra asks the Innkeeper for someone from the Trollfyre clan to show up during the week, as well as someone to refill her herbalism and alchemy kits, possibly someone form the Lightforge clan.
- Roth buys books (Field dressing your prey 30 gold in dwarvish, Magical Creatures of the Dark mainly pictures 60 gold in common), from the Proudhammer Clan he upgrades buckler to +1 and Death Toll sword to +1 (550 gold and 7 days). He finds enhanced armor (+1 Studded leather) and points it out to Li as it is 3500 gold, who buys it.
- Pearls are sold at the Brass Cape, a large black pearl from Roth for 800 gold (200 to party from earlier loot) and Ari sells some she found in Benroth, 1 large white and 8 small pink for a total of 250 gold.
- Ari gets tail of the manticore made into whip, which costs 3 gold and takes 3 days.
- Ari make book purchases of ancient history of dwarves for 10 gold, but does not find any information on the bone key.
- Alethra purchased two books, Gather Moss A Natural and Cultural History (30 gold) and Mushrooms and other Colorful Underground Plants (30 gold) she does not buy the book on cultivation of plants in low to no light.
- Roth buys two copies of The Joys of Cooking with Mushrooms (15 gold each) and the books are in common.
- Alethra goes to look at bags of holding to be told that they are much cheaper in Benroth.
- Ari meets & greets some members of the bard clan, speaking only common and trying to learn a little more about their play style and how they operate in the city.
- Merry sets the pixie off to steal some buttons, with the sharpend copper piece, and she steals 3 but noticed by Roth/Ari. Ari sees one button theft, but can't read what Roth makes of it, assuming that it is an invisible creature he controls. After the button theft, Merryweather presents 2 to Merry, keeps on for herself then leaves to go back to the Feywilde.
- Alethra meets someone from the Lightforge clan and pays to refill her kit of herbs and possibly alchemist agents.
- Grubert Lightforge makes an appointment a couple of days out to refill and discuss herbs above/below the surface, bringing her items for 3 gold to refill her kit and substitution for what is not available.
- Alethra gets Grubert Lightforge's mailing address for non-magical mail, and she still maintains she does not speak dwarvish, only speaking common.
- The party enjoys some pastries from Prime Dough that Magmabrew bought, and Alethra receives a love letter in her pastry, in dwarvish, inviting her to the The Heavenly Gauntlet that night. There is much speculation. Roth then sees a flour-covered person walk by the window not long after this discovery.
- Party relaxes in the Heavenly Gauntlet bar area, Roth points out a disappointed dwarf to Alethra when he enters, who Roth believes is the writer of the note.
- Alethra consults with Merry, goes up to talk to 'Nermeal', eventually revealing the letter from the pastry after a lot of awkward conversation. He seems pleased she does not speak dwarvish and fortune cookies are then explained.
- Nermal asks Alethra for advice in wooing someone as she is so worldy; Alethra looks for help and Merry goes to aid Alethra; eventually Ari joins at a break from her card game and regales the dwarf with all she knows from watching her mother be a huge flirt.
- Nermeal takes notes from Ari's oration and buys drinks as long as she is imparting wisdom.
- Ari wins 3 gp playing poker over a few nights.
- The mastiff is named Kadiddlehopper.
