Session 73 - October 21, 2020 Report - Merry Downtime
General Summary
1st Moon of Spring
- 30th, party leaves and Merri stays behind. Merri's Grandmother, known as Lady Lavore, meets her at the house to talk about her plan.
- Lady Lavore is planning to "borrow" the necklace from Lady Hollingsworth, but the option has not presented itself yet, or a plan hatched. Lady L did acquire a spell that transforms the pieces of glass in the same size as the rubies to make them look exactly like the rubies. Merri casts the spell from a scroll and just succeeds.
- Merri spends days 1-6 researching at the library, trying to learn about the Fey Wild and Lady Holly. She learns very little of the Fey Wilde, but does learn a lot about the various tales of those who "ventured" to the Fey Wilde and learned a few songs about their experiences.
- 7th Day, Merry plays well and arrives in the Fey Wilde, but the court is not around. She then starts walking, see a squirrel sized creature with the markings of a skunk. It does not speak to her. After 5 hours walking what she believes is south, she hears a pan pipe. She plays, following the sound to find a satyr sitting on a log playing. He is Mr Twinkle Toes, and he offer her wine from a flask, Merry learns the court is out on a hunt, and he is not in favor with the court. They drink and play for many hours. Merry offers a Silver Bracelet for Lady Nightgale and a quartz ring for Mr Twinkle Toes, asking him to pass it along for her. Mr TT has no idea who Lady Holly is or was. After much drinking, Merry realizes that time and the lightening do not match the material plane. She arrives back 1 day later.
- 8th, Merry receives a note asking her to attend the theater with her Grandmother, and she accepts. The performance is on the 12th. Merry accepts.
- 9-11, more research with Terrible Rolls at research and the study of the Nightingale was pursued, with much learned, but not about the FeyWilde.
- 12, theater night, good production of undersea vs land romance with musical numbers and a happy ending.
- 13, play at the taverns around the area, visit the Dizzy Monkey and odd jobs board, but does not see anything of particular interest.
- 14, to the FeyWilde. Merry is thanked for the silver bracelet and is offered a flower crown. All the members of court seem to be wearing them, as it is spring in the material world, translating to the Spring area of the Fey Wilde being in "power". Lord Forest shows Merry a rough map of the Spring area, which shows many lakes and forest, a large city, unnamed, and it area seems wedge shaped. Fall is the left and Spring to the right. Merry tries to remember as much as she can. Merry understands that most Fae stay in the area which is their season. She also learns about a gate to the Material Plane in the Spring area, 1 way in, and 1 way out in different places. After chatting with the court she returns home, with 1 hour having passed.
- 15, Lady Lavore comes to visit with her heist idea. On the 30th, there is an opera and Lady Lavore has convinced Lady Hollingsworth to let her borrow the rub necklace to attend the opera as her "cousin" will in town visiting, and Lady Lavore wants to be see as the more well off cousin. Merry will play the cousin, and a dress has been presented for her to wear.
- 16, rest and playing around the town for coin.
- 17, Merry has tea with Lady Marisha, the Arch Druid, who asks about Baeshra and is told that she can send the party to the same tree. They drink tea and Lady Marisha tells Merry about traveling between planes is a spell, and the squirrel/skunk combo she saw in the Fey Wilde.
- 18-29, after the fruitless research, Merri spends most of the time wandering and playing around the city, not wanting to risk a trip to the FeyWilde and missing the heist.
- 30, Merry wears the dress and casts disguise self, making herself the cousin of Lady Lavor, a blue tiefling with a different horn pattern, and playing on the role of cousins attempting to one up each other in a friendly family rivalry. Lady Hollingsworth allowed Lady Lavor to borrow the necklace, and since Lady H is in a second box, the hired jeweler is disguised as the usher for the box. With Lady L using the hat of disguise to give the impression of wearing the necklace, the jeweler has the time during the performance to swap out the gems for the fakes. It goes off without a hitch, and Merry takes the jewels back with her after the performance.
- 1, Merrys Grandmother calls the next day, gathering the gems, and mentions she will continue the social rounds until the 15th, when she will go back to Resonata and offer the gems on Merry's behalf. She will then come back in the 1st moon of summer for a few week visit, and then slowly fall out of touch with Lady Hollingsworth. Lady Lavore will be in touch after the offering and Merry is clear.
- 2-4, Merry learned some interesting things about Holly, Mistletoe and Ivy in her tangent research. She then went out to the woods to find Holly wood and makes a small harp out of Holly to give to the Lord and Lady on her next trip to the Fey Wilde.
- 5-13, Merry lays low, does some practicing of the many songs she found her in research at the library, and awaits the time she can next use the spell, when she thinks that it is the best time.
- 14, Merry plays the song and appears in the Fey Wilde. After presenting the small harp to Lady Nightingale, the Lady mentions that Lady Holly, who was a musician of some renown had a larger harp also made of holly wood. Lord Forrest then asks Merry is she would like to take the portal to the material plane. He needs to send a message to the dwarves and he sends a pixie named Merriweather with Merri. First they travel via tree to the portal, then Merri and Merriweather go through the portal to the material plane. Merriweather does not know, but a week has past and it is now the 22nd.
- 22-23, Merri summons Gertrude the elephant and she follows the directions of Merriweather. She arrives at the trading city outside Blazenthrone.
- 23, Merri waits outside of the tavern, with the pixie Merriweather, casting disguise self to look like Roth, and using Minor Illusion to make 2 more Roths.
