Session 70 - September 10, 2020 Report
General Summary
1305 - 3rd Moon of Spring (Ruanes) 14th Day
- Magmabrew finishes casting the mini-mansion, after reminding the party that she can use a spell to get out of the cave until dawn the next day. After some thought, she will cast a spell the party is familiar with, Tiny Hut, around 2 am to finish out the night.
- Ari then is able to open the chest she found, with 1300 gold and a small bag of gems. Magmabrew uses detect magic to determine that the dagger, bracers, wand, and shield are all magical.
- Magmabrew then get a mug of beer, and since they are sleeping in the mini mansion uses 4 of her spells to cast identify on all 4 objects.
- The dagger and shield are both +1, the dagger going to Ari and the shield to Li. The bracers help with AC, and Scarlett ends up taking them, and Alethra does not want to give up her gauntlets of ogre strength. Alethra does take the wand of magic missiles.
- Roth then discusses what he knows about possible undead creatures that they could be fighting, and that holy water could be a good option in case they are possessed or need something that does a lot of damage to them.
- Roth then goes for a short rest, and Ari comes to speak to him about learning what the key unlocks. Asking if she thinks they can get Alethra and Li to join them in the quest. She remembers a spell about learning the legends around an object, but she does not know the spell herself.
- Ari leaves and Roth resummons Olly, who is not happy about being without her bag of smuggling. She is then delighted when Roth shows her the bag, her ring and necklace. Olly did not like being gone, but is happy to be back.
- Party long rests from about 4 pm to 2 am.
- At 2 am Magmabrew wakes everyone up before the mini-mansion disappears.
- Roth makes Magmabrew invisible while she casts the tiny hut/dome, where the party rests until dawn. The dome looks like rocks from the outside. The dome inside is warm and comfy. The party rests/dozes while waiting for sunrise.
- While resting, Roth puts the painting and two vases into the bag of holding. Then briefs the party on what he remembers about ghosts.
- Magmabrew is able to use her spell to find the way out of the cave, leaving the dome/tiny hut, so it dissipates. Ari summons a goat from her bag.
- As Roth and Li turn the corner, they see two spirits. Roth casts chill touch and Li tries to hide around the corner.
- Scarlett is able to cast Scared Flame and summon a Spiritial Weapon, doing damage to the ghost. Ari stays back, casting invisibility on Magmabrew.
- A ghost is able to posses Li, and the second ghost scared Alethra, scaring 40 years off her life span. She now has gray streaks in her hair, and feels more tired than expected.
- Roth is able to kill the 1st ghost with a critical 20 with the Death Toll sword, obliterating it.
- Several people tried to throw holy water on Li to get rid of the ghost, with Ari, Scarlett, and Alethra all missing Li with the water.
- Li is hit by Roth, and Alethra punches him, stunning him. Ari is then able to hit Li with holy water, knocking the ghost out of him. The ghost strikes at Li then flees through the walls of the cave.
- The party decides not to pursue the ghost, as they have no idea where he went.
- Around 10 am, the party leaves the cave, heading on their way.
- The party then sees an arch, which they try to figure out what it is/why it is there.
- Roth sees one side has a Sylvan inscription above the arc that reads "May Those Who Travel Be Swift and Fleet of Foot." The party does not see a difference through the portal. Ari then walks around, and see the insciption about this side says "May Those Who Travel Be Fleet of Foot and Swift." Ari can see the party through the portal from her side, but Alethra cannot see Ari. She was going to try to throw a stick through, but when she cannot see Ari, she drops the stick and steps back, noting the location on the map.
- Li and Scarlett throw sticks at the portal, which seem to bounce off an invisible wall. Scarlett tries to shape Holy Water through the portal, it hits the same wall. Ari orders her goat to try to go through, it is unable to pass through the portal.
- Mamgabrew and Ari are now giving the portal about 40 ft distance and both making notes.
- Scarlett then moves to Ari's side "May Those Who Travel Be Fleet of Foot and Swift." Scarlett throws a stick through, it disappears and is not on the other side. She is able to shape water, but once it goes through the portal, she cannot see it, or control it. Ari then sends the goat through, who also disappears.
- Roth then asks Magmabrew/Alethra to keep an eye on him. Roth sees and hears through Olly's eyes, and has Olly fly through the portal. Roth loses contact with Olly.
- Roth then sends Olly to pet space and brings Olly back to where he was. Olly tells Roth about the green sky, blue leaves and grass, and that on the other side there was no gate there.
- Alethra notes that this is a gate to the Feywild, and Ari thinks it is a trick gate and does not want to go through it.
- Magmabrew then suggests that they come back at a later date.
- After the mini-mansion is cast for the day, Magmabrew finds the notes about a Greater Restoration spell possibly curing magical aging, within 24 hours. She then digs through her pouch to find a scroll of Greater Restoration. Roth is able to provide the 100 gold of diamonds to be turned to dust. Ari is then able to cast the spell, reversing the aging on Alethra.
- Calm day, nothing interesting happens
- The party is traveling through the woods, when in the later afternoon Scarlett and Magmabrew trip at the same time.
- Party is a little confused, but do not see any real reason that it happened.
- Party continues on and 10 mins later, Roth with a 32 perception sees small 4 in tall mole hills pop up in front of each party member, and Alethra, Li and Magmabrew stumble.
- The party is in high alert mode at this time. And Scarlett with a 27 and Roth with a 30 on the 3rd time see the little mole hills emerge from the ground.
- Magmabrew is the only one to trip the 3rd time.
- Althera then sits on the ground and speaks in Primordial to whatever is in the ground, asking them to leave the party to make their journey, as they mean no one any harm. With an 18 persuasion, the heads of 6 less (child) earth elementals service and giggle, nodding to Alethra.
- Althera thinks these were just playing a prank on the party, but is pretty sure they have left.
