Session 148 - February 22, 2024 Report

General Summary

Merry helped write the book, worked on sign language and in between did some goat tending.   2nd Moon of Summer - 1306 - 16 Lafael Full Moon
  • Early in the morning, Marisha opens a tree from Benroth and brings over Arannis, Gregory, herself and Tristian. Alethra shows Marish and Tristian the form of penguin she learned to take. Gregory brings the rings he made from Kraken parts and he has been able to create a unique lightning spell into them. Beartrum has 1 and Alethra the other.
  • The group talks about options on how to best prevent any problems, and Roth casts the telepathic bond to not include Soot or Tristian, but Roth, Beartrum, Alethra, Merry, Fen, Marisha, Aranis and Gregory. Roth issues a stay at home order for the Barony after dark, to make sure that no one can possibly be hurt in case there are issues with the bard's release. Sybil is also to stay inside with Soot, but be on high alert in case there is an emergency.
  • The group gets to the gate a little before dusk as the full moon rises into the sky, and the gate begins to connect, slowly forming a connection to the winter Feywilde.
  • As the gate is almost completely open, Merry begins to play, playing in concert with Roth, Spring 35, Winter 33, Fall 25, and Summer 33. The crystal that holds the bard slowly rises, then shatters, releasing Lady Holly and the empty vessel dropping down to the ground, empty at her feet.
  • Merry is so excited to see the Bard, and asks Lady Holly for her autograph, which she happily gives to her, along with a hug, Lady Holly then recognizes Lady Marisha, and is introduced to the rest of the group. Roth realizes that Lady Holly has a necklace around her neck that was very similar to the one he sees that Merry wears.
  • As a gift from her goddess, Merry gets access to a spell and chooses Nathair’s mischief, for a little more chaos on the field.
  • The gate to the Winter Feywilde has now fully opened and Lady Holly goes through intent on righting the wrong that was done to her, and they group lands several miles away from the court, so Lady Holly opens a tree to get the party closer to the castle, and ends up in the Polar Beer pen, and then head to the front gate. Cpt Brody is at the gate, and decides to not stop the charge of the clearly upset Arch-Fey, and sends guards to gather the queen into the main chamber for an audience with Lady Holly.
  • After some dramatic door opening, Cpt Brody does a quick scan on the guests who are new to the winter Fey, and the pages all start to try to gain Beartrum's attention and offer some treat. Merry is delighted that some of her "suggestions" are still in play.
  • Lady Holly enters the main hall to see the court hastily assembled with the Queen just seated on her throne. Lady Holly then challenges Vervaine to a duel (the Queen's head scribe), and the carpet is brought out. Since Lady Holly was the injured party and trapped in a crystal, the punishment is banishment, possibly death, possibly locked in a stone.
  • There was much discussion on what was going to happen and the stupidity of not making sure that your enemy is dead and the body unable to be returned to life.
  • Once the floor is set, The Queen casts a protective barrier over the two, keeping all magics both in and out to prevent outside intervention and prevent any stray magic from escaping. After trading spells, melting ice spears, wind spikes, and a resisted Feeblemind, Vervaine is captured in a similar gem, and Lady Holly is proclaimed the winner of the duel.
  • The Queen apologizes to Lady Holly on the behavior in her court and offers her just compensation for the slight that was caused. While not asking for anything specific, Lady Holly has been in winter too long and will return after some travel, and on the way out, tells Cpt Cody that she is taking a green penguin, which she does.
  • The group is tree traveled back to the gate, which Lady Holly helped to keep stable while they were all gone, and explains to Roth that the gate is tied to the area around the castle, but not a set place, and once a gate is open, it is easier to manipulate, but opening a new one is a lot work and energy.
  • After going back to the barony, Lady Holly needs wine. Having gotten all her anger and drama out, the party returns to the manor, where Sybil keeps the wine flowing and there are many stories and tales told, and 14 bottles of wine consumed.
  • Everyone spends the night in the guest cottages and mini mansion.
  • Long Rest
2nd Moon of Summer - 1306 - 17 Fisro
  • Breakfast happens, with Marisha and Tristan departing soon after. Fen needs to have some alone time, so he returns home, and Lady Holly enjoys a chat with Arannis and Gregory before deciding she needs to unwind somewhere a bit quieter.
  • Roth, Arannis, Gregory, and Althera have some conversations about magic, the skills Roth learned in the Fey, the crystals that illusion windows and even how Arannis has acquired a fork attuned to the water plane in case that is where the party needs to go next.
  • When the water plane is mentioned, there is some conversation about a possible tear into the water plane that may be open permanently or too frequently, so if the party does find it, Arannis wants to know about it. Too many Krakens recently.
  • Lady Holly goes to try out Fen's hot spring, and after seeing a penguin and Soot in an air bubble on the water, Fen thinks it best to leave the Bard to her rest, seeing her magical wine glass, and a playful time of animal friends. Merry is called to join them, and Lady Holly offers her a stone which will allow her to call Lady Holly to her magically in case she needs aid or just wants to travel around together, but it is a one time use item.
  • Fen is at the main house and Alethra attunes to the Orb of Scrying, and a message is sent to Miro to let him know they will be casting the spell. Miro is contacted and he asks about the items available, and begins to create a list of spell options. Due to the nature of the spells, Miro suggests arriving the next morning so he has time to set up the spells and rituals.
  • Quiet afternoon, and the town is told of Lady Holly's arrival to be polite to her, and the Grandmother's will spread the word. Sybil is a little unsure of the very powerful Fey, but is happy she is nice and on "our side".
  • At dinner, Lady Holly and Roth exchange wine goblet and flask ideas, and they are both intrigued. Once being told the party is leaving the next day, Lady Holly asks Roth for permission to remain on the grounds, which he is happy to provide. Roth has Sybil have one of the cabins be made up for her as long as she wants to stay, and Soot and the Penguin will stay with her until the party returns.
  • Lady Holly is tired of the time she was trapped and is happy to stay somewhere warm and learn some simple things, like cheese making and how to cook the fancy pies they had at dinner.
  • Long rest.
2nd Moon of Summer - 1306 - 18 Fislar
  • After breakfast, Fen opens a tree and Arannis returns to the capital.
  • Gregory teleports himself, Roth, Alethra, Merry, Fen, and Beartrum to Miro's tower and the teleport room.
  • Using the lock of hair and images, Miro casts Contact Other Plane and is able to determine she is alive and on the water plane. Fen looks very relieved once he learns that she is, in fact, alive.
  • Using another spell and speaking in Celestial, he learns that she is on a small island that has a community, and is currently safe. While unable to get a good view of the specifics, Miro did get a view of the island from the air so that the party could hopefully find it with some aerial surveillance.
  • Gregory thanks Miro and teleports back to his own tower, as he is not great with boats and gets seasick.
  • Everyone else will sail back to prepare for the water plane.
