Session 144 - December 7, 2023 Report

General Summary

Feywild Day 53 - Travel Day 32 - Fall 17
  • After getting the displacer beast meat for possible later use, the party continues on, starting to see signs of civilization, with side paths and small offshoot roads visible for the first time on this journey.
  • The two fall fey are excited, as they will arrive home the next day, and they pull out warm cozy knit sweaters and warm wool-looking trousers and skirt.  Both seem pleased to be out of travel-mode.
  • Roth then makes plans to update his disguise, and he is now back to a redhead with a similar themed outfit to what Rolen and Aurora are planning to wear the next day.
Feywild Day 54 - Travel Day 33/Arrival - Fall 18
  • Roth rolls a 38 on his perception check on the way into the Fall court, seeing time and space of something on fire, and then realizes that a small patch of green is not the right color, and assumes that is one of the guards on the road to make sure the road is well patrolled.
  • A large partially closed wooden gate greets the party, and the guard on duty recognizes both Rolen and Aurora, and lets the cart and the party inside. Spread out within the wall are many small out-buildings and green space, as well as a large central town hall, which is where the party is headed, since a stable-guard arrived to take away the horses and cart.  The guard is happy to leave the party and the diplomats with the Captain on duty.
  • The Captain Coraris then takes a wand to both Aurora and Rolen, and then asks permission to inspect the rest of the party to make sure they are not cursed, under any compulsion or disguised as something that will be harmful to the court.  All give their permission, and a warm wave of magic goes through each person as they are inspected.  When it is Roth's turn, he lets the Cpt know he is wearing an illusion and pulls out both Branwen and Olly.  It is confirmed Branwen is a divine creature, and Olly is much chaos.
  • After being cleared, Aurora and Rolen say their farewells, and let the party know they will receive a bonus for all the trouble on the road. The diplomats go to debrief and file their paperwork, while the Cpt inspects the letter of introduction and sends a page to see if the Chancellor of the Estates or her assistant are available to meet with the party and review the letter.
  • While the page is sent, the party are taken to a small waiting room off the foyer, clearly created by spacial magic, and left with the Cpt to tell of their travels, and any unusual creatures along the way. After recounting their travels, the party brings up the 3 items that seem to be returnable, the shield, the magical deck, and the +1 longbow.
  • Upon inspecting the items, the Cpt is very interested in the shield which was a family item, belonging to his uncle, an adventuring paladin, who has been missing for many years.  In an effort to repay the party, he asks what they would find of value, and upon learning that the human plane does not have Singing Quartz Crystals, offers four small items, one for each party member, a light mint green color crystal of about 2 inches long that will allow the person holding it to have advantage on a persuasion, deception or performance check once a day, and everyone is very excited about this new find.
  • After also returning a generic +1 low bow to the Cpt, the page, Jerome, who was asked by Aurora and Rolen to get our reward after the large number of encounters on the way here, returns with a small chest containing 4 square diamonds, each worth 5k gold. The party is suitably impressed and thanks the Cpt and the page who delivers the gems.  A second page appears and tells the party that the Chancellor of the Estates, Lady Tumblefoot will see them in about an hour.
  • The Cpt, after being briefed on the statue monster and the mist monster, takes the party on a brief tour of the inner court buildings (dropping spices with the head cook) while explaining the basic structure of the court, and a short who's who of the people who are in residence and important for the party's main knowledge.  The fall court seems to be very traditional, using crafts and creation to make most items. King Castilan and Queen Veronna are the monarchs and Xerxes the silver dragon is the lorekeeper.
  • On the tour, the party is taken past the owl bear enclosure, where many owl bears are napping, playing, or just having a little wander around.  Beartrum asks to go inside and run around, and the Cpt reminds him that the current matriarch is Blueberry, and to have fun.  After 10 mins of running and pouncing owl bear fun, the party has to return to the main hall to meet with Lady Tumblefoot.
  • They are taken into the main hall, which is huge, with a tall wooden tressed ceiling and huge windows which let in light. There is a small dias at the far end that holds two thrones, and on the left side, many decorative doors, each with a name plaque.  This door reads, Chancellor of the Estates, Lady Tumblefoot, and they are lead inside. A shorter, more round lady is seated at a small writing desk, and greets the party, happy to offer them a seat, drinks, and refreshments, salmon for Beatrum and small cookies for the rest.  After learning the party found the small deck of cards belonging to her half sister, she offers a small bag in which are 10 perfectly matched pink pearls (1k each, or 10 k plus total), and offers them in exchange.  She also gets the pool's location.
  • Once the polite necessities are over, she opens the letter from the winter court, and is surprised that all that is requested is access to the musical archive at the court.  Lady Tumblefoot is very happy to introduce Merry to Sir Elmstar and will arrange a cottage for the party to rest the night, and stay for awhile, and allow Merry to search for the music written by Lady Holly, which is what Merry tells Lady Tumblefoot.
  • Roth mentions the sending stone, and how he was given permission to share its knowledge and creation, so Lady Tumblefoot invites the party to dinner, where she will see that the head arcane crafter, Nima, is also invited, so that Nima can judge what they would like to do about this new magical item, and he can determine its usefulness.
  • A page leads the party to a small guest cottage where they rest until dinner, and see a very simple and cozy set up for the time in Fall.
  • A page gets the party for dinner, and is very interested in Merry, who is purple, and the owl bear who can speak.  At dinner the table of 8 is set for the party (2 spaces for Beartrum), Nima, and Doris, the cousin of Aurora, who plays the harp and is a musician at court.
  • Nima seems very interested in the sending stone (as well as the cleansing stone) and will meet Roth 1st thing the next morning. Merry chats with Doris about finding any lost or hidden music that may not be in the public archive. Doris does not think there is anything that has been pulled from the public archive, but since the archive is so vast, she is unsure of how the process of where older works are held is handled.
  • Meal wraps up and Roth sees the flash of a silver head in the sea of dinner guests in his main hall, and suggests the party move towards who he thinks is the dragon.  The party then excuses itself and moves that way, along the way meeting Terrace, one of the owl bear trainers, who is happy to meet Beartrum and learn about how he can speak. They approach a table closer to the small dias, seeing the King and Queen acknowledge and then retire for the night. The table holds Tumblefoot, her assistant Francella, and Xerxes.
  • After Olly fan-dragons over a meeting with a big dragon, and Xerxes offer to take Olly flying for a bit, and meeting Beartrum, learning about his ability to speak seems a minor miracle, he generally is a kind and inquisitive person.  They ask Roth about crafting the new items and want to be present for the process of creating it, as new is always interesting. He offered a suggestion on some druid guidance for Alethra, and then asks about Merry's coloring and if it is genetic based on parents coloring.
  • A page is assigned to take the party back when they are tired, and after Xerxes excuses themselves, Merry and Alethra go to the cottage, while Beartrum takes advantage of the largest fireplace he has ever seen and Roth gets a little help with his harp from Doris before playing with the group and then the two retire an hour or two later.
  • Party relaxes in the cottage, Roth pops the mansion and party long rests.
