General Summary

Feywild Day 17
  • Merry reviews her tests on if the Fey can detect a lie outright, or not, determined sliding scale based on hierarchy and intoxication.
  • Roth casts the telepathic bond so that the party can communicate without being overheard.
  • The party then looks at the gem and start to plan. Roth then casts identify and finds that the gem was used to cast the spell Imprisonment. Alethra knows of the spell, but since the casting creates the conditions for dispelling it, unless the caster can be found, it is very complicated and one of the most complicated type of spells known.
  • Merry then takes the gem and puts it into the holder next to the door, and nothing happens, which disappoints her to no end. She then tries it in the window, and a familiar scene of the Spring Feywild and a lake appear, which both she and Roth have visited. Still no release of the trapped bard.
  • Merry takes out the magical parchment, and Roth convinces Merry to not play the song with the possibility of transport when they have a meeting with the Queen that afternoon. Merry unhappily agrees, and plays the Song of Spring, and she gets a small warm feeling in her chest, that she realizes is from her holy symbol. After high performance checks from the other 2 songs and Roth's help, Merry is sure she is on the correct path.
  • Roth gets a page and he is asked to visit the crafters room to receive the boon for his help in the creation of the sending stone. He is delighted with the dark blue bound leather book and the 7 pointed snow flake on the cover. Reading the book with reduce the time and material costs of illusion and dimensional magic.
  • Roth then works with the crafters on one of the window illusion crystals of a mountain scene in the human realm. Olly has opinions on trees.
  • Beartrum asks about the party, and asked if Alethra had a nice time, and he had to learn about those who are not a big fan of parties, and that this was not a normal party from what they knew.
  • Merry goes to find one of the Fall court diplomats, and finds Aurora in the garden of ice sculptures with Lady Sylvan. Merry brings up the works of Lady Holly, and wonders if the Fall court would have any of her works and wonders if Aurora knows of any kept in the Fall Musical Archive. Aurora is happy to ask her cousin, a harpist at court, but requests the use the sending stone to get a more immediate reply. Merry agrees and will be by after lunch.
  • Merry then finds a page and goes to the crafting lab to summon Roth for an after lunch visit to Lady Sylvan's office and a use of his sending stone.
  • Olly and Merry then leave to find lunch and some chaos.
  • Alethra and Beartrum go find Hal and Alethra grows some mustard seeds and a small rosemary twig. She does not have any more luck, but is happy to have some time in the green house and a quiet lunch with Hal. On the way back, she meets up with Roth and Merry, on the way to Lady Sylvan's.
  • Aurora messages her cousin, Doris, a very talented harpist, who knows of the works of Lady Holly and is happy to review the archives to see what music she can find. Doris asks to send a message back the next day and she will have an answer.
  • The group returns to the room, casts the telepathic bond, and go to the audience with the Queen.
  • The group is in a waiting room, and through an open arch sees the Queen on a fancy chair, Mage Shadowspell, and a tall blond woman with a table, likely an administrator. Just outside the room is a small table with two other officials to handle the details of any judgement.
  • Uriel, the page who Merry had to offer a visit with Beartrum to, is keeping track of those entering to meet the queen, and while waiting Roth overhears a dispute about a headpiece claimed by two grandchildren and how it should be distributed without a mention in a will.
  • The party is led inside and Merry requests access to any additional archives or music that was created by Lady Holly when she was at court. Roth notices Shadowspell blushing at the name of Lady Holly, relays that to the group, and realizes Shadowspell had a crush.
  • Merry mentions something about being concerned that what she was going to say could be a problem, since she believes that what she says could be complicated, with someone dangerous at court. With Shadowspell's approval, a silence bubble with cloudy walls envelops the party.
  • Merry then explains the quest she is on from her deity to find this bard, Lady Holly, whose knowledge has been kept away from the world for too long. Roth then sends the gem over to Shadowspell with mage hand, who confirms what it is, and passes it to the Queen.
  • Shadowspell confirms the very high level magic used to imprison Lady Holly, and knows of some very complicated human magic that may be able to unravel the imprisonment. The Queen then holds the crystal in her hand, and tells Merry that the 4 songs played in a row is the way to unlock the spell. After the casting, the Queen looks visibly tired.
  • Merry suggests leaving the gem with the Queen in a safe place until Merry can return with the last song, which they believe will break the spell. The Queen believes that if the gem is found to have been misplaced, the party and the gem holding the Bard will be in more danger, and getting out of the winter court as quickly as possible is the best course of action.
  • Olly then takes the gem, puts it in her bag of holding, and Roth sends Olly to petspace, further keeping the gem off of the radar of anyone looking. Merry plays a song of rest to help restore the queen, and the Queen will provide a letter of introduction to the Fall Court and allow them to escort the current diplomats home.
  • Roth asks Shadowspell if there was any issue with him teaching the Sending Stone creation to other courts. Shadowspell says as long as he teaches everyone the level of crafting, it will not be a problem. Shadowspell is also amused at the Spring tree, and will begin to collect the stones needed for the Awaken spell for the party's return.
  • As the bubble drops, Merry loudly thanks the Queen for her offer of a position as the assistant to the head court musician to help bring up the level of performances, but she must decline. The rumor mill spirals.
  • After the group returns to their rooms, Roth and Alethra work on a small primary for the plants Alethra created and how to use them in cooking, as Alethra cannot write in Sylvan.
  • Party long rests.
  Feywild Day 18
  • Alethra delivers the small book on plants to Hal, has a short chat and is given a small wooden penguin, Slider, which comes alive for an hour a day, and promises to bring back some recipes to Hal when they return.

  • Dinner that night is above and beyond, with 12 courses and some of the best food the party has ever eaten.
  • Since they leave the winter court the next day, Olly reaches out to Lady Kringle, who will meet them on the Western Road in a few days. In her chattering away, Olly reveals that Roth is from the Shadowfeld, which Alethra had not put together, but with Roth being devoted to the Raven Queen, she should have realized it was a possibility.
