Session 136 - June 22, 2023 Report
General Summary
Feywild Day 12
- The plan for the day is for Roth to craft, Merry to go speak with the musicians, and Alethra to work on the puzzle book.
- When Roth goes out in the mornings, a page is waiting with a note for Alethra and Beartrum, which is an invite by Lord Wynfir to see the polar bears and other plants and animals in the royal menagerie. The two accept for after lunch.
- Roth goes to help begin crafting the sending stones, and plans to spend at least 12 hours working that day.
- Merry goes upstairs to find and hang out with musicians, and finds someone playing harp in a practice room and someone practicing a pipe organ, no one seems to be around so she returns to the receiving room to wait a bit for the day.
- Beartrum and Alethra are lead by a page outside the wall of the castle, and see the polar bears out and about in the snow and relaxing in a pond. They see Lord Haldir Wynfir dressed in sturdy barn attire and he invites the two inside the barn, after explaining about the tamed outdoor polar bears. And the four juveniles in training, as well as the two small fluffy cubs. Lord Wynfir then tries to delicately ask Beartrum if he ever considered being a father, and to think it over and let him know if he has any thoughts.
- After that awkward pause, the group is lead to the official menagerie, through another door to a warmer climate with a light from the ceiling and a forest setting with monkeys, a peacock, several song birds, a small turtle and even a few deer. The trees were all gifts from other various courts and nobles, so there are some spring, summer and fall examples, including a feather oak from spring, which is the type of tree Oakly is. After walking through the wood on a gravel path, they come to a meadow with a small tea house and they all discuss the environments as well as the special care taken of the flora and fauna.
- That same afternoon Merry goes to check out the musician corridor again, this time seeing the archivist, who introduces her to Sara, a violin player. The two start chatting in one of the practice rooms, and Merry gets some ideas on how to move forward. Merry invites Sara to be part of a second performance, as a thank you to the Queen, after the planned performance by Mistwalker in a few days. Merry listens to Sara complain about the piece to be performed and how Mistwalker is not generally liked and that better musicians could be leading the performances at court.
- Merry wants to perform a variant of The Song of Delight a tribute to summer, by Lady Holly, who Sara has not heard of before, but approves of the composition. Merry can come back tomorrow and Sara will have some other musicians who Sara thinks will work well with this piece.
- Party regroups for dinner, with the group discussing the days events, as well as ideas on Beartrum's possible fatherhood in the future. Roth then pops the mansion, but returns to craft for a few hours before sleeping. Party long rests.
- Roth returns to the lab to check on the overnight team's progress.
- Alethra and Beartrum stay in the receiving room, with Alethra working on the puzzle book, and about lunch Alethra attempts to contact Fen to talk about her druid powers, but sadly has not luck with the stone connecting.
- Merry goes to the musical practice room and meets the 6 other musicians who Sara thought would be best suited to what Merry had planned, and Merry on pan pies, Sara on violin, Luvon on harp, Feno on harpsichord, Cylane on Flute, Valana on Obo, August on Lute, and Rolen on percussion. Oakley is then introduced and given wind chimes, with the group getting through at least 3 good rehearsals before Oakley needs to go back in the box.
- On the way back after the practice is concluded, Merry notices some of her suggestions have been implemented by the pages she passes.
- After lunch, Beartrum asked Alethra to go with him to spend some time with the polar bears while he considers if he wants to be a father anytime soon. Alethra sends a note to Lord Wynfir, who welcomes a visit.
- Some time playing and sliding in the snow, Beartrum comes to the conclusion that he does not want to be a father now, and he is not really interested in the polar bears, and the two go have a quick chat with Lord Wynfir as he is working on training a polar bear. The Lord is slightly disapointed, but understands. On the way back, penguin bowling is discussed.
- After most of the party is returned, and Merry tells Beartrum and Alethra about the performance plan, Beartrum also offers to dance, which Merry considers, and they work on his performance outfit.
- Roth returns and the party enjoys a dinner together, with Olly and Alethra planning to create a tea with Euphoria Breath, and Roth not wanting any part, and Merry scaring the pages into helping participate.
- Mini Mansion set up, Roth goes to craft a few more hours, and then long rest.
- Roth goes away to craft, Olly says to experiment. Beartrum goes outside to find a page, Sam, who is very happy to try to spend some time with the famous owl bear.
- After learning that the tea only has a slight affect on the boiled water with the breath. The page feels a little floatie after the 1st tea, but none of the rest. Then Sam is persuaded to try just the breath of the tiny dragon, which is just the same affect as the tea. Sam is also delighted to get to spend some time petting Beartrum.
- Merry askes Sam which faction he is a part of, and while trying to orgininally pay it off as he does not understand, he finally admits that he is part of the one that thinks Beartrum will stay at court. Merry gives him a look that causes him to cower and then quickly lead the room.
- Beartrum is confused about this and offers some suggestions about the fey visiting the gate in the Barony when the moon is full and attaching it to a fixed point in the winter feywild.
- Alethra and Olly then talk about teaching Beartrum Slyvan, working on it a little here and there.
- Merry spends the afternoon in practice with the musicians and Oakley. The piece is very much starting to come together in a polished manner.
- Dinner time Roth is told the results of the experiment, then mini mansion, and more crafting then long rest.
