Session 135 - June 15th, 2023 Report

General Summary

Feywild Day 10

• Alethra in the room notices that the windows have gone from daylight to dusk, despite the light levels outside behind the illusion crystals remaining constantly twilight outside.
• Roth and Merry continue to explore around the courtyards, finding one with many tiny lighted paths, forming a beautiful pattern when seen from above.
• A small chime rings three times and Roth and Merry see all the Fey outside start to move towards the banquet hall. They go collect Beartrum and Alethra and wait to be taken to their seats at court. Beartrum was given the highest seat next to a Haldir Wynfir, a nice fey who speaks common and works with the various animals around court. He is delighted to chat with Beartrum about all the things an owlbear can now talk about.
• Roth is seated next to a Fey woman named Mirabelle, who is the head of cuisine and dining and is delighted to present a meal of human food with a fey inspiration. She would love any notes from Merry and Roth on the food after it is served.
• The queen then arrives in full regal sparkles and is seated at the high table with several high position nobles, including Shadowspell. Once the queen is seated, the meal is served. 1st course is a salad in a bowl of ice, with a snowflake pattern on top, that then hit will melt into the salad as dressing. 2nd course is a costal cream based stew in a bread bowl. 3rd course is fish- salmon on a cedar plank. 4th course is roasted chicken, made blue by magic, and a side of roasted veggies, all in normal colors. 5th is a small cheese board with bread and crackers. 6th is the dessert course, of raspberry sorbet with fresh cream, of which Beartrum gets three servings.
• After the meal ends, Mirabelle gets some ideas on future dishes and how they can be enhanced. Roth shares a spice container, and Mirabelle tells him about a spell "kitchen helper" that makes a tiny servant for 30 mins.
• Once the High Table was cleared, people start to drift away from the table, though the party is invited up to be informally thanked by the Queen. Everyone has an eye on the party now. The Queen in gracious in her words and welcome. Beartrum is delighted and Merry offer the Queen one of her Roc feathers, the one she wears in her hair. The party is then escorted back to their room by a page, and given a generic bedroom crystal as an additional room, and the party is left for the night.
• Roth casts the mini-mansion in the bedroom and the party goes in, with Olly finally emerging and telling everyone all her true and made up things she saw when she was invisible at the banquet.
• Plan for tomorrow - Roth crafts, Merry musicians archive, Alethra and Beartum penguins.

Feywild Day 11

• Merry and Roth are meet in the morning with a page, who shows them to the musicians archive and the crafters workshops. The page, Gregory, is given tips by Merry on how to make friends with Beartrum, blueberry pie, and how to throw elbows with the other pages (added weight in the elbows).
• Merry will now start a page show down and is all in on giving various good and bad advise.
• Merry and Roth walk through a wall into a large double spiral staircase, which the page leads them both up. Merry meets the Aien, the musical archivist. Roth meets Connell, the head of this small workshop, and the page goes to get Alethra and Beartrum.
• Beartrum and Alethra are lead over to the penguin pen and meet up with Halbert to have a chat and go into the snow and play with a penguin pack.
• During the day Merry and Aien go through all the books that lists all the musicians at court and find that Lady Holly was there for about 7 cycles or 7 months, many many years ago. Aien pulls 5 volumes of music that could contain any compositions that Lady Holly wrote or performed while in the court. They each find one original composition, Merry finds, The Song of Abundance about fall and Aien finds The Song of Delight about Summer. Aien does remember meeting her in court and notices that since there are 2 pieces written about the seasons and court, it would make sense for Lady Holly to be there and do research while writing the piece on winter. When asked about where a bard would travel next, Aien explains that possibly to spring, fall, or even the human lands.
• Roth goes into the workshop and meets Connell and Kennor, who both are working on projects, a potion and working on an illusion crystal. Roth is working on getting notes on illusion magic and the creation of crystals that are used in room creation. They speak about some ideas for how to work on the illusion crystals. Roth then tests the sending stone and reviews with the crafters how it works, how to make one, and some ideas for how quickly they can get a prototype up and working. Roth then confirms that Lady Kringle is in good standing with the court and shows Connell the ring that was gifted from her to Olly. Roth suggests a charm bracelet, with paired sending rings on a much smaller scale.
• Althera spends the afternoon with Hal and they work on testing her nature skills and try to help Hal get ahead with his gardening and planting. After many tries, Alethra is not great at flowers early on, but does well with pumpkin, rosemary, and several cooking herbs. There is some concern on Alethra's part about how and why she has this skill, but she is pleased to have something to learn and study.
• Merry finishes up research and coping the two songs down, she noticed a locked door at the back of the archive, which has her interest. She tries to get Aien to tell her his schedule, as she wants inside that room. After some ideal chatter, Aien tells Merry how to request a practice room and how the musicians have been very busy recently getting ready for the performance in a few days.
• Roth is delighted to discuss how to make some sending stones and works to acquire the items needed so that they can group project one in a few days.
• Hal says something to Alethra, telling her that learning is good, but sometimes you need to get your hands in the dirt. This was a similar conversation that Alethra had with Li when he was trying to talk her into traveling away from the monastery. Alethra distracts herself with some tea.
• Merry is escorted back down the rooms by a new page, and tries to intimidate them into a good bit of court gossip for information on Beartrum. Merry is so intimidating (35) that the page faints. After being woken up, Merry learns that Mistwalker, the head musician, is not on great standing with their last two performances being something of a flop, and if this next one is not well done, Mistwalker could be demoted or banished.
• Merry, is now unsure how she wants to play this, sabotage the performance or blackmail with an offer to help. She arrives back at the room about the same time as Roth and a new page who brings them dinner, and a blueberry pie. Page chaos continues.
• The party talks about what they did and learned that day, as well so that fun things they can do with Alethra's magically grown pumpkins. There is concern about how long they can be gone without losing too much time or pre-paid taxes. Alethra and Roth can use their Raven Queen tattoos?
• Roth pops mini mansion and party long rests.
