Session 134 - June 1, 2023 Report

General Summary

Feywild Day 10
  • After the Storm Giant is confined to the cell, Mage Shadowspell invites the party to tea and a recap of the events that happened to come to the capture of this Giant.
  • Shadowspell takes a fancy crystal and puts it into a small niche next to the door and then a new door appears and a large and cozy study room with many chairs, a table and chairs, small tables and couches, and a cozy fireplace. The windows all have spring time views, much different from the snow landscape outside.
  • There is a small table and a tea set, and Alethra and Shadowspell set up a nice pot of tea, with Roth offering a nip of vodka from his flask to anyone interested.
  • Merry narrates the events which lead to the giants capture, with emphasis on the frost giants likely being deceived as well, and how they did not every break any rules of hospitality.
  • After agreeing with everything Merry said, she offers a seed to Alethra, which promptly grows in a mushroom, much to the confusion of Merry, who did not illusion this, and Alethra, who is concerned it happened again. Alethra's one level of druid is now in play.
  • Alethra offers 3 small containers of tea to Mage Shadowspell, who is delighted at Alethra's gift. Shadowspell then asks what the plans of the party are in the immediate future. Will they stay, try to find a gate, or head to spring with a letter to where Shadowspell knows a gate is located. There is no consensus, but Roth mentions affixing the gate in the baronry to a place in the winter court for trader purposes.
  • Shadowspell mentions the great service that has been done for the court by the party, and with the snow storm on the hill fading, she is trying to even out the obligations. Roth would like to meet with some of the crafters and offer trade suggestions on items that they can both learn from each other. Beartrum is meanwhile on the carpet in front of the fire and quite happy.
  • Merry manages to cast tiny servant to the mushroom that Alethra grew and it then pops out of a pocket and starts making tea. Much confusion and amusement follows.
  • Alethra does not seem to have anything she is currently looking for, but is also freaking out about the druid powers that seem to be slowly manifesting at this stage in her life.
  • Merry then asks Mage Shadowspell is she knows of a Lady Holly, a bard and musician, who travels throughout the land. Mage Shadowspell vaguely knows the name, but not much out. Shadowspell suggests an introduction to Head Musician Mistwalker. Shadowspell is not very musically inclined.
  • Shadowspell also offers to send in someone to help them be dressed more in the court styles, and Roth can meet the crafters tomorrow.
  • After ushering everyone out of the room, Shadowspell removes her crystal from the cradle next to the door, and then opens the plain door, which is now a very basic sitting room with windows looking out onto the snow. She says she will send Corinith to help with clothing soon, and sends 3 messages as she walks down the hall and away.
  • Roth then casts the telepathic bond so that Beartrum gets information, as the past conversation was had in Sylvan. Roth mentions about the Bard who Merry is looking for, Shadowspell seems like she is telling the truth. Merry updates them all on the Bard, Lady Holly, maker of the magical song of transport to the Feywilde.
  • After that sort conversation, there is a knock on the door, and Corinth arrives, with a small cart of snacks for the party. She offers suggestions on what to wear, which Roth, Merry, and Beartrum all use illusion magic to cast. Corinth is all silver and sparkle, which Roth is more subdued, and Beartrum now appears in a long vest and frocked coat.
  • Corinth is confused, as to why she was asked to attend the party, until Alethra mentions she is unable to do illusion magic and needs a physical outfit. She is offered a silver shining long dressing-gown style outfit with embroidered green Holly leaves and red Holly berries on the edges, with 3 small cardinals embroidered on the train.
  • Corinth uses a magical needle without thread to alter the gown to fit Alethra, and Roth is intrigued at this new magical item.
  • Alethra offers some tea sachets and Roth a small jar of spices. Alethra realizes that is is not quite an even trade, and offers a small silver potion of Fantastic Feast, after consumed for 24 hours all food consumed is the most delicious ever had. Corinth is so delighted, she give Alethra matching slippers and has tea while chatting for a bit, then leaves the party.
  • A small messenger then arrives to announce the arrival of the Head Musician, Mistwalker, who will be arriving soon.
  • Roth hears a small ringing of bells, which he announces to the party, and recasts the bond so that the party can talk to each other and keep Beartrum in the loop.
  • When Mistwalker arrives, Beartrum is dressed in a fancy green coat from his hat and everyone is interested to see this new fey. Their outfit has small bells around the sleeves in different tones and instruments in the fabric of their outfit.
  • Once everyone is introduced, Merry asks about Lady Holly, if Mistwalker knew her and any information that she has about the Bard Merry is looking for. Mistwalker Nat 1 on deception, and something is up that she is not telling Merry, and after some fumbling and offers to check the musical records for Lady Holly's past visits and anyone else who was close to the missing Bard, Mistwalker quickly moves on speak to Beartrum.
  • Beartrum is invited as a guest of honor at the debut of a new performance in 4 days time, and Beartrum happily accepts. Mistwalker then hasilty leaves.
  • There is discussion on what is up with that and some ideas on what made Mistwalker so nervous. Merry and Roth then go explore while Alethra and Beartrum stay in the waiting room.
  • Alethra is reading when a knock on the door happens, and she meets Elderbrook, one the keepers of lore in the court, and he brings some books on Druid/Nature magic and has a nice conversation with Alethra. Alethra meets Elderbrook's cactus, Curtis, and causes a small flower to bloom on it, before offering him some tea for the conversation.
  • Merry and Roth do a full circuit of the courtyards and walkways, seeing what is a real space and which spaces are made using magic. After an hour they return to the room and find a note inviting them all to dinner in the banquet hall. They accept.
