Session 130 - March 16th, 2023 Report

General Summary

Fey Wilde - Day 3

• While relaxing with Sir and Lady Kringle, rumors of the storm are mentioned, with thoughts of a possible white or silver dragon. There is no definite answer on either, and many suggestions are made.
• Lady Kringle admires Olly and her jewelry and asks about how Beartrum came to be, with Merry mentioning she has the ability to create awakened creatures, and that she may be able to cast the spell for the Kringles.
• Sir Kringle is surprised with Althera mentioned talking trees, as Tree Ents do exist and they can talk, but they are not always willing to make their presence known unless you a threat to the forest. So the party may have seen a Tree Guardian or Tree Ent and it just not moved or spoken to them.
• While the Kringles offer to let the party spend the night, but they decline, thanking the Kringle's again for their hospitality, and the party heads out into the snow. After the party leaves the tent, it closes, and the tent is no longer visible.
• The party walks awhile before setting up and mansion, and is able to call it an night as the moon is no longer visible in the sky, both Alethra and Roth realize it just blinks out of the sky in a moment, it does not "set" like on the material plane.
• Once in Roth's Mansion, Olly has a new ring on her back claw, a gift from Lady Kringle and the party has a long chat with Olly about how it is NOT ok to accept gifts unless Roth knows about it and agrees to it.
• Roth casts detect magic and identify on the ring, it is a ring of Fey Friendship, and sending can be cast once every 3 days between wears of the ring. Roth thinks Lady Kringle is concerned for Beartrum and Olly, and this is a way for Olly to call for help if needed.
• Roth tries to lie to Olly about the ring, but failed 19 vs 21, that the ring only allowed Lady Kringle to talk to Olly. Olly does not buy it, but agrees to check with Roth before she sends any message.
• Party then long rests of the night.

Fey Wilde - Day 4

• Next morning, light snowfall and moon is visible, and Olly makes a snow angle, but does not see anything of note when scouting outside the mansion door.
• Party continues on, with 1-2 days to the storms right edge, and Roth seeing a large crevasse in the terrain up ahead, and the castle behind them.
• Roth hears vibrations of heavy foot falls, and thinks something is approaching. At the top of the next ridge, the party sees a group of 5 adult and 2 children mammoths slowly graving along the valley between the hills, and the mammoths did not seem to notice the party, so they all wait 15-20 mins for the mammoths to go by and then walk behind them. Roth and Alethra fly by with no issues, but Bearturm rolls poorly and makes a noise, spooking 2 of the mammoths. Merry quickly casts invisibility on both herself and Beartrum, avoiding the charge of the mammoths, and allowing the herd to continue on their way.
• The party heads to the one stone bridge visible which crosses the crevasse not too far out of the way on their path. As Roth then flies toward the bridge in an effort make sure it is safe and not trapped, he sees two creatures hiding, they are giant sized, but covered in white shaggy hair.
• The party attacks, with one being very injured and then fleeing, which the second one tries to grab Beartrum and run after the other creature. Since Alethra can understand the two odd creatures language, and is upset they are trying to take Beartrum, so the party goes all out, killing both and then searching the bodies. One had nothing, and one had a polar bear skin pocket, with some jerky, a small tooth with carvings, and 3 berries. Roth then takes 4 claws from each of the hands of foot of both creatures, for future crafting ideas.
• After that is done, Roth sends a message to Cpt Brody about the encounter and to check in. Cpt Brody thinks the creatures were Yeti, and they sometimes travel in groups, so be aware. Nothing special about them, or magical, so just large hunting creatures.
• Beartrum then tries on the berries, which tastes somewhat like a blueberry, but a little meaty when chewed. No ill effects, and he is not hungry.
• Stone bridge is crossed and at the end of the day, mansion is cast and serious thought is given to what could have created the storm.

Fey Wilde - Day 5

• Good travel until lunch with no issues, getting closer to the storm.
• After lunch, Roth spots a cave in a small clearing not far off course. Olly scouts inside, finding a well camouflaged entrance, 3 bedrolls, a stone fire circle with embers in it, and shrubbery with 4 of the familiar berries. Olly takes the 4 berries and the party debates what to do next.
