Session 125 - December 22, 2022 Report
General Summary
1306 - 1st Moon of Spring - Kortril (29th Day)
- Roth goes to see a Man of Letters, or local representative, and gives him 10,000 gold, which is enough money to pay for the house in town, and taxes, and the Barony, for 10 years, which if the party is in the Fey Wilde for 10 days, is the max amount of time that they can be gone in the material plane.
- Roth and Ari both are disguised as generic Steve and generic Dwarf, and head to the Crooked Quill and meet with Vidalia. Vidalia is confused about the random people who are asking for her, and once she realizes who the disguised people are, they are able to sell the 15 yards for 3000 gold, after the silk is identified. Vidalia is very delighted, also with Roth's idea of silk found from an old sunken ship, and the money is divided up among the party.
- Olly takes the potion of Greater Restoration into her page of holding.
- At lunch 4 guards and 1 clerk arrives with a scroll and is asking for Ari. She has a formal complaint issues against her by the Duchy of Eakos. Ari asks if she needs to bring any witnesses, and then goes to get the letter, which is her "evidence". Roth, Alethra, Merry, and Fenton go with Ari to the magistrate office. Alethra has a new notebook and Judith says in the house to continue and work on keeping the house.
- The group is lead to the Duke's compound and into a large room with a tired looking man at a large desk full of papers, the head of the weaver's guild, Oldin Warf in the corner, also looking very confused about what is happening.
- The charges are read against Ari, Trespassing, Unlaw Teleportation, Illegal access into the household of the Duke. Ari agrees that she did Teleport in with the letter, which the Magistrate does read, and then Ari tries to argue that she was just delivering goods as requested, which was not proven, and then tries to make the excuse that she "didn't really mean to".
- Roth rolls a very high insight and the magistrate makes a "its going to be one of those days" faces.
- The magistrate, after reading the letters and speaking with Oldin Warf and Ari, goes to the delegation for the Duchy or Eakos, and Ari asks to speak to a legal scholar on the subject.
- Bethany, and middle aged woman in long green robes arrives and upon hearing the cases and the details, is not sure what help she can offer. Ari asks for help to get out of the issue or even lessen the sentence. As Bethany is unsure of what is being asked of Ari in reparations, she is not sure what help she can offer at the moment. She suggests that she go and pull the few inter-duchy disputes that involved magic and then based on those cases and how they were settled, Teresa may be able to offer more suggestions.
- Bethany returns with a small stack of leather bound folders after a 20 mins, mentioning, this is what she found on such short notice. There are 3. One about a plant people invasion by another Duchy's druid who went a little crazy, 150,000 gold fine. Second about two boats that got into an altercation, the kingdom at fault bought the other 4 new boats (200,000 g value). Third about a large army of undead from a wizard who went mad from another kingdom, many clerics of the Temple of the Raven Queen, as well as a "Guardian" which Roth notes. The small village is still abandoned, 250,000 gold.
- After druid, Fenton, talks about how to make plant people and how they could maybe be made to watch goats, the Magistrate returns. Mr Warf is given a stern warning about how letters from powerful people are to be burned after business is concluded and never given away, fined 100 g, which Ari pays for, and is sent on his way. Mr Warf waives the finders fee on the silk and quickly leaves. Ari is asked for 50,000 gold and a formal apology to the Duke/Duchess of Eakos, as well as taking a remedial teleportation etiquette class and services to the kingdom. Since Ari does not have the cash, she asks about ways to pay off the fine. The agreement is that Ari will create a teleportation circle in a location of the Duke and Duchess's choice, as well as provide up to 36 teleportation through out the year. Ari will be given an assistant to help with the spell and to keep an eye on her. Since she had 50,000 spent in her, she now will be watched by a polite young lady named Teresa
- Teresa is the niece of the Magistrate (Uncle George)as well as the niece of the Count and Countess of DuBoise. This is her first assignment and she seems very excited. She will follow Ari and they will both report for duty on the 1st to be transported to the location of the new teleportation circle.
- Alethra and Fenton return to the house first, and let Judith know there will be another for dinner.
- Ari, Teresa, Roth, and Merry stop by Korfel's to buy Ari a regular bag of holding, which she will use as a suitcase, and then they head back to the house.
- Judith makes Tiefling eggs for dinner and is delighted that no one got hurt or imprisoned. Dinner is eaten, with plans to go the Barony the next day and return the 1st.
- At breakfast, Fenton opens a tree and takes the party to the Barony so they can prepare for the Sowing festival. Judith goes with the party on a day trip so she can meet Sybil, and Teresa goes to keep an eye on Ari.
- Both Ari and Roth have rolled insight on Teresa and don't think she has any major nefarious issues or hiding any evil plans.
- Upon arrival, the group is told Merry has a new baby goat, and Roth is told the beer and cleric arrived for the event. Roth is briefed on his few duties, and seems prepared.
- Teressa, Ari, Merry, and two brave children, Susie and Thomas, all try to catch the greased pig, which Merry winning in the end. Since the prize was two of her goats, she gave 1 each to Susie and Thomas.
