Session 124 - December 8th, 2022 Report
General Summary
1306 - 1st Moon of Spring - Koral (25th Day)
- Fenton and Alethra return to the house around lunch, having had not a lot of luck at the research on Fey Gates so far, mainly a conspiracy theory paper and some vague maps.
- Ari has a note from Odilon Warf about a Duke and Duchess who want all the spider silk available and are willing to pay 150 gold per yard.
- Roth has a note from Vidalia of the Thieves Guild asking about the purchase of some rare fabrics, and to visit soon.
- Ari contacts the merchant in the elvish kingdom, Nicholas, from the House of Silks, who only has a bid of 100g per yard, and so Ari needs to consider.
- Quiet afternoon at the house, with Magmabrew joining the party for dinner. Magmabrew tells of the unicorn illusion that recently was seen outside of the temple complex in the main square, and no one is sure where it came from. Magmabrew gets back the charm of Find the Path and returns all 30 yards of spider silk to the party.
- Fenton ask Roth if he can stay at the Barony for a while, creating his own space, maybe even a grove, and he is happy to work on projects around the Barony, as a druid can help with, as a form of payment.
- Althera and Fenton spend most of the day researching on the Fey gates, learning how some have residual magic, some connect to other gates, some connect all the time, some part of the time, and then some will just dump you into the Feywilde where this is not gate, it is is just connected to the season on the Material plane. While the gates on the human side are studied, very few have the magic to go through in case they are stuck or there is a time shift when returning.
- Ari is invisible and triggers the unicorn illusion in the temple complex, and it very amused with the chaos. Ari does some research on the Fey Gate, finding a book, "Theoretical Travel to the Fey Wilde - With Time Dilution" and it has several descriptions of the winter court, they are ageless, some rules on the hierarchy, and a good description of the court dress for various levels/ranks.
- Merry stays in the backyard with her tree friend and rests.
- Roth goes to see Korfel and presents the idea of heated tiles, with either low warmth, warm/cool sides or maybe a high heat option. Korfel is not sure how they work, but will do a little work on that. Roth then sends a runner to Arannis, and they are set to have tea on the 28th. Roth goes to see Vidalia, who has four pearl braids just added to her hair, and Olly loves the new decoration. Vidalia mentions that the think the silk will go for around 200 gold a year, and she will take all 15 yards, knowing that the condition of the other sale will be that the Duke and Duchess of Eakos are getting "all" the silk in stock. Roth then plays the harp for the rest of the afternoon.
- During dinner, plans are made on how/where to sell the silk and the elvish cloth merchant, Nicholas is sent a message that they will not be selling through him, as they have a better offer, and he is disappointed.
- Fenton then says he is going to head out the Barony and do some exploration and study on the Fey Gate. Roth lets Sybil know he will be arriving and to set him up in a guest cottage permanently.
- Alethra has a date at the Gold Room to try mushroom, with Tristian, and she spends the morning with him, discussions on plants, what she found and other items. She returns to the house and gets cold mushrooms from Olly, who shows off her new pearls.
- Roth lets Olly go try to "find" some pearls like Vidalia was wearing the previous day, Olly was very sneaky and with an invisible Fairy Dragon and a 24 slight of hand, she now has a new pearl necklace. She very much loves them and tells Roth how she took them, and then goes to nap on the new Fey tree. Roth plays the harp and relaxes for the afternoon.
- Alethra goes to the Gold Room with Tristian, and since neither one can be poisoned, they each try all 5 mushrooms with Mr and Mrs Gold. 1 of the mushrooms does not appear to sit well with Mr Gold. But since the 5 were new species, the Golds wanted to try them all. 1 was particularly nice, but the rest are just average. Alethra keeps 1 of each to try and re-grow at some point.
- Merry stays at the house with Roth, and is happy Olly did not create an incident.
- Ari goes to see Odilon Warf to get the information on the silk verification process, and lets Roth and Merry know she is going out for a bit to sell the silks. Odilon tells her that he has a letter from the Head of Household of the Duke and Duchess, and Lady Ushami. Ari lets Odilon know she is accepting designs on court gowns and it pass it along to any good designer they meet.
- Ari takes the letter and casts teleport with it, trying to reach the Lady Ushami to verify the silk. Ari rolls well and shows up in Lady Ushami's office. She is attacked by two very surprised guards, and after presenting the letter, is given tea and the silk merchant is called to verify.
- A very through process is gone through, with the merchant even slightly tasting the cloth. After a deliberation, the silk is confirmed, and when Ari asked why the merchant tasted it, the reply was "Spider Silk is slightly salty," which the merchant fully believes. Ari tastes it discretely, and it is a little salty, she thinks. She is paid 2250 gold for the silk.
- Ari is offered a place in the guest/ambassador quarters for the evening, and it is a very nice room with a small courtyard and a little water fall into a koi pond. Ari goes some wandering/shopping before retiring for the night.
- Ari does some shopping in the main city of Takamatsu, finding a small tea set of 4 cups in the blue/white china the city is famous for, and buys a fire/water set for 3 gold. She also finds a pretty red/yellow wrap front dress with kimono sleeves 21 gold, which is well made, but fairly traditional style. She also tries to find a magic stop, only finding a potions shop, with a potion of Greater Restoration for 2000 gold and she gets a free potion of healing. Ari teleports back to Benroth around lunch.
- Fenton and Alethra go see Lady Marsha in the mid morning, with Fenton showing off his abilities and what he can do/teach to the arch druid. There are no open full time teaching positions at the moment, but Fenton can be added to the approved list of druid casters and private tutors, as well as may be able to teach some classes in the summer or fall, if he wants to remain in town.
- Alethra show Lady Marisha the 5 unidentified mushrooms they found in Panzar, and Lady Marisha mentions one looks similar to a White Cap of Death which is very toxic.
- Fenton and Alethra go back to the house and the basement laboratory and start on the alchemist fire creation. After 4 attempts, 3 are successful! Alethra thinks these may be useful in the mushroom cultivation of the high heat mushrooms.
- Roth goes to afternoon tea with Arannis, cover the possible political implications of a druid grove on the barony, which he does not see any issues with. Arannis thinks having a high level druid on Barony is wonderful. He admires Olly new pearls, and admits that he does not know a lot about the Winter Fey specifically, but does recommend to not play favorites, always be very polite, humor does not always have the same response, and any deals should be made very clearly and with no room to back out or change terms. Arannis tells Roth about possible time changes when traveling to/from the Fey Wilde and suggests a man of letters to handle official business if they are gone for a long time.
- Arannis will be having dinner with Lady Marisha that night and he is sure to hear all about Fenton, and will message Roth if he has questions/concerns.
- Roth lets Fenton know that Arannis may be sending a message or stopping by to meet him a week or two, and that Arannis is very nice and they will likely get along. Alethra mentions having good interactions with him, and Fenton's worries seem to be put to rest. Roth is delighted at the 3 successes in crafting
- Ari gives Alethra the tea set, and Alethra show Olly how to prepare tea. Alethra spends the rest of the day working on the puzzle book.
- Roth gets 20 small glass vials and starts to fill them up with spices from his spice pot, in preparation for the trip to the Fey Wild as possible gifts.
- Party spends a day resting/preparing.
- At lunch, Fenton opens a tree and takes the party to the Barony so they can prepare for the Sowing festival.
