Session 117 - August 11, 2022 Report
General Summary
1306 - 1st Moon of Spring - Rualar (15th Day)
- Ari sets up the space around the fey gate with programmed illusion and set up a small spell to trigger to be a very pretty sitting room with tea set up.
- Ari then goes into town and picks up a small clockwork bear (15 gold) and some nice tea cakes made of honey. She then goes back to the barony to continue the set up.
- Ari then goes back to the woods to set up. After that she takes a nap and then gets ready for the watch at the fey gate. At dusk she sees a small set of two bowls set up one with water and one with milk, she then arrives in her court dress and is ready to great the fey who go through the gate.
- Cold'era, Beartrum, Alethra, and Roth cast the telepathic bond and water breathing to test what can work under water. Alethra has some knowledge of underwater exploration, she was thinking of looking for her parents, so she has a lot of information on light penetration and water currents. As the group starts to descend down to the end of the 100 ft anchor, the party gets Cold'era to cast the spell allowing them all 300 ft of dark vision, and after some swimming down, the sea bed seems to be about 450 ft below the sea level. The relic is defiantly below this area and Alethra wants to cast a shatter spell, but Cold'era suggests not to so that they do not accidently damage the relic. The results are that melee weapons are not great and ranged weapons are not as good. Spells do not seem to be any less efficient, except for fire magic.
- Olly does some scouting and does not see anything, but does see a turtle swimming very far away.
- The party goes to the boat to long rest and Beartrum and Alethra sleep in the main room after a long soak in the bath.
- Ari stays up all night, about 2 am the space in the middle of the gate starts to become last clear and there is now a full white space inside the gate, and 4 small pixies go through. They do not speak common and Ari does not speak more than a few words of Sylvan. The pixies are delighted to have tea and cakes, and one then flies back through the gate and 17 more pixies come through around 3 am. At 4 am a satyr called Jingle arrives and offers thanks from the pixies for the food, tells some stories, and offers to have Ari come visit. All the pixies return through the gate, the satyr Jingle says they are all winter fey, and looks forward to Ari's next visit. Ari then gives the satyr the clockwork bear and waves as he goes back through. The gate's center then goes from white to a clear and non-portal. It is just starting to be dawn.
- The party completes a long rest and wakes up for breakfast and stretches.
- Ari does not sleep and takes 1 level of exhaustion. She sends a message to Roth and uses the scrying orb to get a location on the boat. She casts teleportation and is able to roll well enough to make it to the boat. After Ari gets about 1 hour of sleep the mansion disappears and Ari meets Cold'era, Ari changes, and Ari is brought up to speed on the missing item and what needs to be done. Water breathing, the telepathic bond and the 300 ft dark vision are given and the party slowly descends into the water.
- The group reaches the sea floor and the locate item spells shows that the item is still beneath the party. Roth casts detect magic and gets an item within 30 ft down. There is some talk of casting a spell to shatter the stone, but they may damage the items on the other side. The party then splits up and each walks a section away, with Beartrum then seeing out a small descent with what looks like a cave opening. As the group approaches they see two sharks around the entrance.
- Battle happens, with the party "jumping the sharks" and both are killed. Roth gets shark meat to try for later.
- They all explore the large cave and see a smaller tunnel in the back. Roth 33 perception. The group goes down the tunnel being careful and checking for traps. As they are getting closer to where they think the relic was located, Olly telepathically speaks to the group, as she sees a large squid creature in a cave at the end of the tunnel. Olly is pulled back to Roth magically while the group tries to find out the best way to handle the Kraken or large squid.
