Session 111 - May 5, 2022 Report
General Summary
1305 - 1st Moon of Winter - Duael (7th Day)
- Tristian opens up a tree, with the party returning to the university at Benroth. Roth goes raven and flies home while Ari goes owl and flies home as well. Alethra and Merry walk back.
- Roth confirms with Arannis the thief has been sent to the barony, and Judith is pleased to know the food is all right to eat. Ari then does a performance of song/dance to distract the people who have been promised a "treat" if they stick around. It ends around 2 am to thunderous applause.
- Arannis then releases the guards and he heads home, thanking everyone for such a wonderful party. Ari does the rounds of all the people who only seemed slightly affected by what could possibly be the potions given out to the guest by the thief. No conclusive evidence was gathered, and Ari wants to think about how to handle the people who may be responsible.
- At 3 am the alcohol stops being served and the band stops playing. Ari bids good bye to everyone, with Judith locking up the house and letting the party know the cleaning crew will arrive the next day at noon. She then goes to sleep, looking very tired.
- Party is awake around noon, Judith has light snacks on the 2nd floor while cleaning on the 1st and 3rd floor are happening. During the meal, a knock at the door, and Tristian arrives with flowers. The flowers are to Merry from Thomas, and Ari is very sad they are not from Tristian. Tristian is checking on the party and is glad to hear that things have quieted down and that the party was such a success.
- While eating, Ari attunes to the ring of invisibility, which allows the wearer to cast the invisibility spell 3 times a day.
- Roth plans to appear at The Last Flagon that evening as the thief to collect the money, while Ari is going to stake out the drop to see if she can find the hiring person. She is going to use the rings invisible spells plus disguise self. While Ari is staking out tavern, Roth heads to the Crocked Quill to give a report to Milly, who takes a very through report, and promised to follow up after they have completed their investigation. After casting disguise self, Roth learns that the thief's name is Allen and a known figure to the thieves guild.
- Alethra flies on her broom out to the barony to check on the thief they left there. She provides a salve to make sure the wound is not infected, and tells him to stay there. She discovers that he took the job to make quick cash for his brother, who is very smart, but loves to gamble and is in a tight spot with some debts (to nobles in town for court) at the moment. He took the job to get him out of those debts quickly. He is not happy about it, but resigned to do it. Alethra then confirms the thief will stay and flies back to the town home.
- Ari around 6 pm sees a small child in a cloak with the hood up, go to the drop spot and hides somethings. Ari follows the child to the docks, where she is sitting and watching the boats. Ari (now in disguise) talks to the little girl and offers to walk her home. The little girl declines, but Ari is able to follow her invisibly. After loosing which house the little girl went into at the last moment, Ari polymorphs into the little girl, making a fuss. A lady comes outside and knocks on the door where the little girl, Tabby, lives with her mother, Susanne. Once Ari sees the little girl inside, she goes invisible, waits for the neighbor to leave, slides a gold under the door, then sneaks home.
- Merry goes out into the city to start a rumor to make up the scene caused by Thomas the wine seller and gather the rumors of how the party went at the house. She starts a rumor that she created the scene with Thomas as Joanne was too close to discovering the secret present that Thomas was planning (with Merry's help) for their anniversary. She hears 3 rumors about the party. 1 is that the house is magically set up to look with the inside of a gem, each room different. 2 the party had magical drinks that did something fantastic if you were lucky enough to get one. 3 the Duke's Daughter Beatrice was at the party, and was offered a marriage proposal, and the doors had to be locked down with the court wizard handled the unsatisfactory offer. After that, Merry goes home for dinner.
- Roth goes to The Last Flagon and gets the funds from the drop, then returns to the house. He will open the bag outside with mage hand, after confirming the bag is not magical, and they find 250 gold, divided up between the 4 party members.
- After dinner and everyone has been briefed, Roth and Merry recognize Tabby, who has run errands for thief guild things before. Roth sends a message to Milly that Ari will be by in a day or so to offer the rest of the information they obtained.
- Merry goes to meet with Julia and is able to tell her all about the experience that she has on the cloud giant city. There are varying levels of truth to the conversation, but both seem very happy with the conversation. Merry begins to learn giant. Merry spends 25 gold and has 5 giant metal buttons made by Merlen.
- Ari goes by the thieves guild to provide what she can about the dead drop and the young girl who dropped off the money. Ari then is offered a few jobs of possible knowledge and information about the heads of the guilds which is an information plant. Ari thanks the guild but does not take any jobs. Ari then goes to start learning Undercommon in the Elvish City.
- Ari goes home on 2 weekends to Benroth, 1 to gamble and 1 to see Beartrum.
- Alethra spends 3 weeks in town learning giant. She goes on a date with Tristian at the Gold Room, where they have a wonderful time eating mushrooms and taking about natural magic vs ki and the implications of the subjects. Alethra mentions her mother was a druid.
- Roth works 8 hours a day with Magma brew and the spends an additional 8 hours the 2nd and 3rd weeks of the month to complete his second magical food platter. Roth then manages to sweet talk Julia into letting me stay at the library an extra 2 hours each evening for the last week of the month to do research on ritual spells, and adds them to his spell books.
- Merry spends the month learning giant. Joanne, Thomas's wife drops by with some flowers to thank her for the help with damage control after the party. Merry pretends she has no idea what Joanne is talking about.
- Ari spend the time in the Elvish city learning Undercommon, comes home 2 weekends to gamble to 2 to see Beartrum.
- On one of her return to the city, she tries to figure out who made the potions, but sadly she was not able to do so, but does learn that yarrow root is a rare ingredient that is often the hardest to come by when making a love potion. Ari sends a message to Joanne's cousin, Otto, who is a potions maker in Waterhaven, using a sending spell, and is confused and offer potions for sale, and ends the message on the word "Korfel." Roth does not want to try and strong arm Korfel into giving up an secrets, and Ari does not want to try as he is still working on her sword.
- Alethra spends 1 week in town learning Giant, then takes Olly to the Barony, where she stays with Beartrum and Allan and works on her Draconic. Alethra works on teach Beartrum to read.
- Roth spends the month during the week in town with Magmabrew working on helping with the house, and then the additional 2 hours each evening for those weeks writing down more ritual spells in his spell book. He works with Julia to find 2 higher level ritual spells, telepathic both and contact other plans.
- Thieves guild report sent to town home. The illegal board was shut down and the owner of the tavern is paying a major fine for such a disrespect to the guild. Allan can leave the barony if he would like, and return to the city and work off this thieves guild fine. During his stay, Allen taught Beartrum stealth, and he is much better at being quiet. Before Allen leaves, the party returns his ring and Ari gets his brother's name, Fredrick Johnson.
- After the 1st week, Merry is now proficient in Giant.
- Roth spends the whole month during the week helping Magmabrew, and the weekends in the country with Bearturm and Alethra and Olly. For the 1st week of the month he works with Julia in the evening to copy the last ritual spell into his spell book. For the rest of the 3 weeks of the month, he spends time working with people on how to create a new spell and reading books on magic theory. Roth arranges a meeting with Vidalia to sell a potion. After confirmation, and identifying, Roth is able to sell a potion of flying for 30,000 gold. She is delighted and Roth now has enough to pay for the mansion in full.
- Ari spend 3 weeks in Elvan city to learn the rest of Undercommon, spends 2 weekends to gamble and 1 to see Beartrum. Ari runs into Fredrick at a gambling party, confirming that he is not drinking and that he is a terribly gambler and needs to quit. She is quite intimidating.
- Ari pays Korfel the last 2000 gold and get her new magical sword at the end of the month.
- Ari hosts a casino party for Annette in her new spell, the Magnificent Mansion, which was a huge hit, and no clean up! Annette and Ari had a wonderful time decoration and planning
- Alethra spends time at the Barony with Olly and Beartrum and after 3 weeks now is proficient in Draconic. Alethra works on teach Beartrum to read.
- At the end of the month, a large crate arrives with elvish writing on the top. In the crate are 3 sets of very fine studded leather armor, 2 short bows, and 1 long bow, all made from the dragon parts of the black dragon the party killed earlier in the year. Merry is astonished to receive her upgraded armor that Ari purchased for her.
- During last week of the month, during the voting for the new head of commerce, Ari votes for Annette and Merry writes in Thomas. Alethra and Roth choose not to vote.
- On the 30th, Merry leaves a note that says "I have things to do, I will be back," and leaves Gertrude for Alethra while she is gone.
